Update: 2015-17 GT350/R Engine Oil Cooler Tube Recall Service Procedure

Late last year 2015-2017 Shelby GT350 and GT350R owners began receiving letters notifying them of a planned recall  relating to potentially faulty engine oil cooler tube assemblies that may have insufficient crimps which could potentially result in an oil leak.

Ford made it official in a February 20, 2017 bulletin for Ford Safety Recall 16S40 to Ford dealers nationwide notifying them that parts would arrive in mid-March and owner letters  expected to be mailed out during the week of March 13, 2017.

The company has now provided dealerships step-by-step instructions on the recall procedure and clarifies that “[i]t is anticipated that parts will be “available in sufficient quantities” to repair all vehicles by mid-March, 2017. Until then, dealers are only to repair vehicles that arrive at your dealership or dealer stock vehicles with a customer sales contract.”

Be sure to check the instructions yourself if you’re comfortable turning a wrench or to ensure the dealer repairs are done properly.
