Remember that GT350 that was running around with the hood bulge? It turns out that it was Ford testing a 7.3 in the GT350. REVan Evan did a video on the car.

This is probably why Ford said that the engine could fit in the car…

If you watch the video they also are testing a manifold that fits under the real GT350 hood. They dance around putting one in a production mustang by calling it a crate engine kit for a manual transmission car.

I did see that part as well as them mentioning about packaging it with a manual. Looking forward to Q4 to see what the kit looks like.

everybody knew it was a godzilla, that's the only reason why they revealed it.
that 6.8 pushrod motor they're building? based on the 7.3 and its slated for a mustang and the F150... just like the 5.0 is.

so... roll that one around for a bit. there's more to this than just a crate motor package.

And even more stupid power with a little boost....

You can kind of see how the OEM version of this thing in the Mustang might happen with the trucks paying the major bills, as with the 5.0. Big-inch NA engine, yes please.

Im missing something. I seam to be the only one not excited by the godzilla engine. Less power and more weight than the coyote. Just more tq. I feel its a big step backwards in time.
They need a alloy block.
As for less power.......remember that the tune / cam / intake / compression was developed for Heavy Duty Trucks.
Just changing the tune puts you well above 500hp.
This engine makes power where the Coyote doesn't and makes it where the Coyote does.

I will give you that on they need a alloy block. That would be good for 100lb diet. I would be way more excited if it was a 7.3L DOHC. The 7.3 should be making well over 500hp with ease. Its basically a refreshed old school big block and it was nothing to make big power with those.

Sure lets go backwards in tech. And for those who think you can just add boost and go.. you're sadly mistaken. NA coyote vs NA Godzilla the slowzilla has zero chance. Also if you want serious understeer, that's a GREAT way of going about it. Remember peeps.. Chevies top dog engine is a 5.4L NA 700hp DOHC. Even they seen the light.

I'm more amused by the fact that chevy decides to throw a DOHC in the vette around the same time Ford puts a large displacement pushrod in the mustang. I'm tellin ya, somewhere at sometime, two execs are taking the piss seeing who can outdo the other at their own game.

Probably accurate. But Dodge wins the pushrod game. Ala Demon/Viper.
