In this video, I take my 2020 Shelby GT500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack to the track (road course) for the first time. I booked this day awhile back. It turned out to be quite cold that day! I went ahead and did it... figuring what is the WORST that can happen with 760hp on summer track tires on a 35 degree day!?! Watch the slipping and sliding... I had fun driving and making this video... hope you enjoy!

This will help my work day go by. Looks like fun and proper use of the car. Did your two Ford Performance schools help you with this? Heard you're "almost out of gas" and laughed. Fuel phobia is real on these.

Thank you sir! Yes, the two trips to the Track Attack and one to the Track Tour were my only experiences on a track prior to this outing... I had never taken one of my cars to the track. I am HOOKED! It’s time now for a 4-pt and a harness. I’ll be doing more of this... it’s too damn much fun!

You mentioned your starting tire temps on a cold day, what temps did you see once you warmed up the tires? Did they get to 36 psi, or should you have started even higher?

I never took tire temps. I only knew the outside temp, which started at 35 and hit 53 at the end of our last session. For tire pressures, I started with them all at 30 (versus owner’s manual 28 for track) and they got to 37 for the front right and 35-36 for the rest. Most of the hard turns were to the left. For that cold day, a 30 psi starting pressure seemed to work well.

Thanks. I have a COTA weekend coming up in Feb, and was expecting to start at 30 psi since it might still be chilly.
My past events there were very hot ambient, so I started at 28 and found they settled around 36-37 once warmed up.
If you want to ring out that CFTP, you should bring it to COTA...

Everyone says it’s an awesome track! I’ve heard there are walls though, which I wouldn’t want to smack. Eagles Canyon has nothing but dirt if you depart the track.

It has some walls, but not where you would generally go off track. Lots of runoff or gravel traps abound.
I've been running there for several years and only saw one guy hit a wall. And he was doing what his on-board instructor told him to do...entering front straight, of all places.

Gotta try it. They will make you have an instructor the first time anyway. Honey Badger might even be the guy.

You are right about the seats and your thighs. I have large muscular thighs and by the end of the last last session last week, my left thigh where the bolster ends was very sore. I could tell a lot of force was being place on my thigh to keep me in place.

I have the exact same opinion about walls! It's the main reason why I love Gingerman (southwest Michigan) for my track days!

The g forces these cars generate will wear you out until you install 4 point or better belts. Bracing yourself against the dead pedal or seat bolsters gets old pretty quick.

Even on my cold day, I saw 1.33 lateral g’s!

Yes, Mark runs a great event.
The next MVP event at COTA is 3 days (19-21 Feb). But if you send him an email and ask about a single day, he will get you in.
