2018 Mustang GT Instrumented Test

Our friends at Car and Driver just did a full instrumented test of the 2018 Mustang GT and published the data that we’ve been waiting to see.

They tested a 2018 Mustang GT with performance package, MagneRide dampers and 6-speed manual transmission and found that while the vehicle’s zero-to-60 time equaled that of the outgoing 2015-17 Mustang GT at 4.3 seconds (not surprising given the real acceleration gains would be with the new 10-speed automatic), the revised Coyote 5.0L managed to open up a 0.3 second and 3-mph gap through the quarter-mile with a 12.6 second run at 115mph. C&D notes that by 150mph, the 2018 Mustang GT was 2.4 seconds faster than the 2017 model.

But it’s the improved handling that really impressed, of course, the editors writing that the new Mustang GT “has adopted the stability and willingness of the GT350.”
