2018 GT350/R: Shortened Model Year, Low Volume Production Starts October

Ford has just released a memo about big changes in the production timing, volumes and allocations for the 2018 GT350 and GT350R.

The 2018 model year GT350/GT350R order banks are now open with Job 1 production for both models scheduled for October 2nd.

Both vehicles will have a much shorter model year run with the standard GT350 scheduled for only 7 months of production compared to the full 12 months for the 2017 model year and the GT350R with an even shorter production of only 5 months for the 2018 model year.

This will of course result in significantly lower volumes versus last year. The 2018 GT350 is expected to have approximately 40% lower volume while the 2018 GT350R will see a 55% decrease in volume from the 2017 model year production.

The shorter model year production timeline comes as a result of several production breaks — the 2018MY GT350 commences in October and extends into November, then a production hiatus in December or January, and production picks back up in February through to June 10th.

The GT350R commences production at the same time but with a four month break from November through February 2018. Production resumes in March 2018 through June 10, 2018.
