2016 Shelby GT350R Mustang to Debut at Sebring

Multimatic Motorsports and Miller Racing have confirmed that the new Shelby GT350R Mustang will debut at Sebring for the second round of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season.

This comes after Multimatic started the season in Daytona running its Ford Mustang Boss 302Rs.

According to Sportscar365, the new GT350R Mustang was listed within the preseason CTSC car regulations, but with most of its still-unknown technical specifications omitted with the exception of tire size.

The drivers that will command these vehicles have also been announced — Scott Maxwell and Billy Johnson will team up in the No. 15 Ford with Jade Buford and team newcomer Austin Cindric in the sister No. 158 Ford.  As you may recall, the Johnson and Buford were spied with a GT350R prototype at Daytona Speedway by M6G member Mikell just days before the GT350R debut in Detroit.

“I couldn’t be more excited for the new season,” Johnson said. “With the new cars coming, I think we’re going to be really strong this year. I’m happy to be co-driving with Scott and I’m looking forward to some podium finishes!”

Stay tuned as the CTSC second round is set for March 20 at the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida.
