On the heels of its dyno video of a stock 2016 Shelby GT350, Hennessey Performance has announced plans for a limited edition supercharged version of the 5.2L V8 engine in both the GT350 and GT350R — the first supercharged Voodoo engine to hit the market.
The HPE800’s 2.9-liter supercharger system will help power the Shelby GT350/R to produce 808-BHP @ 7,800 RPM and 657 LB-FT torque @ 4,600 RPM. The upgrade also features 11.0:1 compression forged aluminum pistons with steel wrist pins, forged steel connecting rods, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump system, and carbon fiber high flow air induction, among other improvements.
As is tradition with Hennessey builds, these unique serialized GT350s will also get exterior and interior accoutrements including Hennessey and HPE800 badging and embroidered headrests.
With a build time of 3-4 months and an exclusive run of only 50 vehicles for the 2016 model year, the Texas tuner is indicating impressive performance numbers await, with 1/4-mile times of 10.8 @ 133 MPH and 0-60 in 3.3 seconds.
Before getting to work, Hennessey took the GT350 out for testing to see how fast it is in factory stock form with a 0 to 170 mph run.
The results as seen in the video below: zero to 150 mph in 24.2 seconds and zero to 170 mph in 39.1 seconds.
