Go there to pick up an oil filter for my 2016 GT and I expect him to give me the FL500S filter that I’ve always used but instead he comes out with an FL-2121-B12.

I tell him that’s the wrong filter but he informs me that Ford changed suppliers and that this is the new filter. Is he right?

When I got home I searched online on American Muscle, Levittown Ford parts, etc etc and they all still show the FL500S as the recommended filter. Nowhere did I see this other FL-2121-B12. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I just bought a case of twelve fl-2121-b12 on ebay for $45 plus shipping n tax, so my bottom line $4.70 each.

The FL500 is readily available, and what the factory recommends/requires....also, I think you could probably use an FL820 - the gasket and the threads seem to be identical, but the filter itself is a bit larger...or you can do like people in the 4.6/5.4 crowd used to, run an oil filter relocation kit, with dual FL1A filters...but I'm not sure there's any advantage outside of maybe a filter that's easier to access.
I use the Ford Performance Version of the FL820.

That guy has a lot of different oil filters for low bucks
Thanks for the tip - our local Ford dealer has had that particular filter on back order for me for two months now. Be canceling that order tomorrow morning!

The end of the 2121 filter looks like an ecore type filter and I have never been impressed with those. I think I will stick with the 500 for as long as I can get one.

Not sure if this is in another tread, but in case anyone is interested about the difference between the FL-500S and FL-2121-B12, the FL-2121-B12 is designed specifically for synthetic oil applications and appears to be Ford's modern replacement for the FL-500S.
