Do our UK cars auto lock when you drive away ?

If they do, I haven't noticed it. It's been quite audible on other cars I have driven but I don't hear it on the mustang, maybe its a problem with setting the exhaust to track mode ... :cwl:

If they don't auto lock, is it something that can be changed / switched on easily, maybe using Forscan ?

I've already set the car to double unlock. For the majority of my driving it seems pointless to have it open the passenger door and boot when they wont be used, if they are required it's only a double click of the fob button :like:

I also didn't realise that the double lock is a better (safer) option than a single, I really should spend a bit more time reading the manual ...

Cheers,

ah modern cars and their stupid 'helpful' gimmicks. I really must RTFM too, I have no idea what the keyless fob / entry system does other than make it easier to steal the car.

It can be changed using forscan. Print out the things that can be changed from the Forscan thread and away you go.

edited to reflect I did not read the OP question fully! Never mind i need to RTFM, i need to read the fking question!:lipssealed:

17 manual states

Passive locking and unlocking requires a valid passive key to be located within one of the three external detection ranges. These are located approximately 1.5 m(5 ft) from the front door handles and the luggage compartment.

Note: The system may not function if the passive key is close to metal objects or electronic devices, for example keys or a cellphone.

Passive Key
Your vehicle can be locked and unlocked using the passive key. You can also use the passive key as a remote control to lock and unlock your vehicle. See Locking and Unlocking (page 37).

Locking Your Vehicle
Note: Your vehicle does not automatically lock. If you do not touch a locking sensor your vehicle will remain unlocked

So one paragraph says locking and unlocking with a passive key and then 3 paragraphs later says the car doesn't autolock. Thats cleared that up then

For clarity, mine is a MY17. I think WD Pro is asking about anti-hijacking door lock where the doors lock after it starts moving. You can change this in Forscan, at least you can for a MY17. The doors lock at about 10mph, you can barely hear it, the little red led will light. As previous, all info in the Forscan thread in the main forum.

Thanks all :like:

I will spend a bit more time experimenting to see if mine is set to do it (the anti hijack door locking bit) :like:

I am thinking of asking for a OBD connector (OBDLink MX+ ?) for Christmas with the intention of altering a few things in forscan. Up to know I have identified these items that I would like to change :

Dash Gauges – I seem to be missing the diff oil temp ? (the car has the temp sensor).
5 indicator flashes per momentary indicator activation.
Beep on double lock.
Ford performance splash screen on boot up and shut down.
Lincoln grey sync screen.
Auto lock when in motion (if it's not already active).

i've got the auto lock to work you need to change this in forscan:

it maybe an option you can just select using the in built settings in forscan (selecting the IPC/BCM without "(As built)")

Auto lock motion:
BCM: (X is the check sum it'll recalculate automatically)
From:
726-15-01 0202 0202 02XX
to
726-15-01 0101 0101 01XX

(leave the x in the below as your original values)
IPC
720-01-01 xxx6 xxxx xxxx
to
720-01-01 xxx7 xxxx xxxx

Mine auto locked with the keys in it, luckily it was on my drive and I had the spare keys in the house.

Have you disabled the "Smart Unlocks" feature in the SYNC settings?

"When you electronically lock your vehicle
(with any door open, vehicle in park and
ignition off), your vehicle searches for an
intelligent access key in the passenger
compartment after you close the last door.
If your vehicle finds a key, all of the doors
immediately unlock and the horn sounds
twice, indicating that a key is inside."

I can't manually lock my car with the keys in it (though I've not tried very hard). Hopefully it's the same for any autolock feature, in that it will not lock if keys are inside, at least unless "Smart Unlocks" has been disabled.

I'll leave this here so you can use it when you get your OBDLink:

Untitled (1).jpg

Depending on your current configuration, the last digit in the first group will be one of the above. Just change it to the value corresponding to the same configuration plus auto-lock.
For instance, I had an E there, which I changed into an F. I have a hunch that it will be the same for you.

No changes in the BCM were necessary. The above change will make the auto-lock option appear in the menu on the digital dash, and once you turn the option on the doors will lock each time you start moving.

Great info - thank you :like:

I could find it for pre 20's, but it was in the BCM and we know the BCM changed in 20 - I would have been a little nervous trying it :like:

Even without the OBDLink you can already download the as-built data for your VIN here:
https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

It's an XML file which contains all the values in all of your modules, as they were set from the factory.
Open it in any text editor and search for 720-01-01. Mine looks like this:

LABEL="720-01-01"><CODE>8F4E</CODE><CODE>1C64</CODE><CODE>62E8</CODE></DATA>

This means the values at that address are 8F4E 1C64 62E8.
I would expect yours to look more or less the same.
