Thanks.

I wonder what the automatic "Transmission is filled for life" means. We can't fill it or drain it? Certainly we could drop the pan to drain it but where would we refill? Is the current GT automatic like this? I wouldn't trust any transmission fluid past 100K miles.

Fill-for-life is pretty common these days. A lot of cars don't even have dipsticks for the transmission, since that's one of the big areas that contamination enters...

They have to have a fill hole somewhere. On the transmission case itself I guess? Our G8 GT doesn't have a trans dipstick but there is a fill hole on the transmission that can be accessed.

I plan on keeping this for years and racking up over 100K miles. And it will be driven hard at times. I'm going to want to change the fluid every 50K miles I would guess. Guess we will have to see what the deal is.

Does page 6 state that Recaro's aren't available with 68B?

Not necessarily, or at least not that is necessarily accessible in the car. The trans could be filled in a different way entirely at the factory. Case in point, though not exactly the same thing, is the rear axle on the current car. The fill plug is installed well before final assembly is complete. The axle is on a pallet on the line, pinion down, before the cover is installed. A station squirts 5 pints of 75W140, friction modifier already blended in, into the carrier from above. The cover sealant is applied, cover installed and bolted down, and the assembly moves on. At no point prior to the car getting in the customer's hands does the fill plug ever get removed, unless the dealer monkeys with it. My point is that, for assembly and installation purposes, a fill pug is not required.

If the engineers have deemed the assembly "non-serviced", then the need to offer service ports goes away, and no longer a compromise to be made during assembly. In theory, the transmission or vehicle assembly could conceivably be streamlined by eliminating that need, and assembly time/cost reduced. This is all, of course, speculation because I have no idea how they plan to handle the transmission. But it is all possible.

Okay confusion cleared:

- Airco on base models, dual zone climate control on Premiums
- HID standard on all models

New interseting tidbit:

- EcoBoost has a single exhaust system with dual outlets

Still up in the dark:

- Auto dimming rear view mirror(s)
- Electric folding mirrors

Select-able drive modes standard in the premium versions of the car, including manual!

Track mode being the same as the "track key" in the boss and mustang?!

Snow/Wet mode + New Suspension + Quality Winter Tires = easy winter driving even with a 6-speed monster of a gt?

I CANT WAIT FOR THIS THING TO COME IN

All the exhaust has to go through a single turbo so there is really no other way to do it.
