Europe spec 2015 Mustang to get stiffer suspension

According to Jalopnik:
European drivers new to the 2015 Ford Mustang will get a slightly stiffer suspension and one less engine option than American drivers when the iconic muscle car makes its debut in 100 new markets. Other than that, not much will change.

We know that a host of technological changes are coming to the Mustang, but the biggest change is the switch from a live axle to an independent rear axle. The Mustang's chief engineer Frank Davis didn't give a ton of details,other than the decision was made in 2009 when the new Mustang went into development.

He did say that the suspension would be stiffer for European drivers. He didn't say by how much, only that and that there would be more tire grip on the roads.

Davis also revealed that of the Mustang's three engine options — the 3.7L V6, the 2.3L 4-cylinder and the 5.0 V8 — Europe and Asia only get the latter two. The base V6 in America will only be in America.1P
8No diesel? How are they going to sell them without one?

As far as other performance options, both Davis and Ford COO Mark Fields emphasized that they made no compromises for the European market and that's it's a "fully American" car that'll more or less be ready to drive.

I would expect by "stiffer suspension" they mean to say that all 2015's to be sold in Europe will have the Performance Package as standard equipment.

It makes no sense to develop a specific Euro suspension / brake setup next to two different setups for the States.

So in short: "Euro suspension" = Performance Package

I guess that would make sense if Mustangs there are going to be a lot more expensive but the whole issue of standard equipment on same level trims in different regions has been a sore point for some domestic Ford buyers. I hope they don't repeat the same mistakes especially for the Mustang.

I really doubt there will be different specs or even different trim levels. They will simply charge us for the Performance Package by asking a higher base price that includes the additional charge for the package. So in that sense the US market will still have more flexibility.

And the reason the more sporty suspension will be standard here is the simple fact that in Europe speed limits are higher and that people are used to stiffer rides. Just like the vast majority of Europeans is used to driving a stick shift and considers an automatic a luxury.

That article also says that the 5.8L Trinity motor will fit in the engine bay with modifications and they are planning for it. GT500 here we go!

It's alright the PP will be standard overseas... in fact, the more (options as standard) the better because they already get shafted in terms of price points. Usually priced elsewhere way much higher than ours in the States. A la carte works for the US market, so consumers here choose what they want to fit their needs.

Do Brembo front calipers fit into that pack or is that yet another different package of options?

It's good to hear that European cars are coming with these optional items as standard, hope RHD cars in Australia will be equally well optioned.

We don't know what is what for sure with the S550 performance packages.

For the S197 models, Performance Package was for the V6 model and included mildly upgraded suspension, brakes from the previous GT model, and different wheels with summer tires.

The Track Package was for the GT and included Brembo brakes, different wheels with summer tires, Torsen rear differential, Boss radiator with oil cooler, mildly upgraded suspension, and different Advanced Track software tuning.

^^^ ...and on the GT500 the Performance Pack gave you cockpit adj. shocks, torsen diff, unique wheels, Gurney flap on rear spoiler and unique shift knob (no stripes on knob).
