2017 MY sales in progress

Source: I am a Data Analyst for an Automotive Production Facility. I work in product development as well. We get these numbers from a company that sources production numbers straight from all OEM's. There is a small degree of variance, but at most said variance will be only 2%.

wow so manual take rate on the 5.0 is 19.7%, EB is 19.7% and V6 is 19.7%. Thats crazy its the same percentage across the board. Basically anywhere between 19.5% and 20% of Mustangs sold in 2015 were manual. Be interesting to see if 2016 looks the same.

I'm not shocked the percentages align. The way Wards and OEM's work together is Ford gives them total production numbers, then rough percentages of Manual Vs Auto etc. Wards cleans up the data by running it against other data they keep and usually arrive somewhere in the middle. This isn't meant to be an exact figure as much as it is a rough guide. Regardless, I would say it's within 2% of the actual figures. In my experience they are relatively close.

I find it very interesting that the percentage of manuals is virtually identical regardless of engine.

It's not really. That's how they produced them. It was by design.

That's the same way they killed the MT in pickups. Only build 9% as MT and then scuttle the option because the take rate was less than 10%.

You can only use these numbers as "what the customer desires" if the customer orders exactly what they want and not what they find on the lot.

Wow, so the claim that the 4 and 6 cylinders are what keeps the mustang afloat is thrown out the window.

Not really...

The combined 4 and 6 cylinder numbers are > 8 cylinder. This says "production figures" and not sales though.

Assuming these were sales, the 4 and 6 cyl still out number the 8 cylinder. These are people that would not have bought an 8 cylinder.

These are US market figures. So think of them as sales figures. There are 110k or so 2015's rolling around.

But yes really. While the 4 and 6 may outweigh the 8, looking at a percentage...V8 sales represent 40% of MY15 production....a significant number. If you were to eliminate the 8 sales all together, the mustang would likely not exist. What this shows me is that V8 sales are equally as important as 4 and 6 sales.

I think it's fairly safe to say that it being 2017, all 2015 mustangs have been sold...so it is a pretty good representation of sales.

this, plus i think that most of the MT are special orders...from what i have noticed in all the dealer lots around my area that i have been on, if they had a PP on the lot it had the MT, but the rest of the mustangs, no matter what trim were AT. like Texas said, they do this for one reason, to show the number cruncher that "we" dont like MT anymore, so why do we still need to build it?
more of the money, business aspect than the true nature of why we have MT in the first place.
for me if the MT is an option no matter what car im looking to purchase, i buy it.

I'd like to know how many Oxford White Premium GT's with Performance pack, and Recaro seats. There can't be that many. It was an act of congress to find mine.
