Not a fix for temp issue, but maybe if you have to have the work done you can work with the dealer to get the other trans installed with cooler?!

2015-16 Shelby GT350 TSB 16-0085:

ISSUE:

Some 2015 and 2016 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.2L twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) engine and built on or before 2/26/2016 may exhibit an intermittent illuminated MIL with DTCs P0720 and P0722 present. Follow the TSB Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Give your dealer a call and get it in and looked at it. It'll most likely require ordering of parts and at least a day in the shop (replacement of transmission per the TSB).

This TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) just dropped earlier this week.

Attention 2015-2016 GT350 owners:

This TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) just dropped earlier this week. If you're having these codes, or just an intermittent check engine light this may be the issue.

Interesting. That's the OSS sensor(s).

Add: The sensor itself can usually be replaced easily. If the trigger for the sensor internal to the trans has a problem, perhaps then the transmission would require removal.

Interesting . . .

Would Ford continue to source transmissions without the internal cooler pump . . .?

I pasted the link to the TSB that i shared on another thread. It does not mention what the symptom is, but it sounds like some sort of internal failure because it require replacing the XMSN

P0720: The speed sensor detects the revolution of the idler gear parking pawl lock gear and emits a pulse signal. The pulse signal is sent to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) which converts it into vehicle speed.

P0722: The speed sensor detects the revolution of the idler gear parking pawl lock gear and emits a pulse signal. The pulse signal is sent to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) which converts it into vehicle speed.

Going to go with yes on that one. Tremec will continue to make both applications. It's not the only car it is used in. No sweat off of Ford's back to order a different PN.

I was under the impression that Tremec just provides the necessary parts and ford builds the transmission.

I like to disassemble things.

Actually, as far as a TR3160 that works in an S550, there isn't another vehicle that this unit is used in. This version is tailored strictly for this application.
