Wow. If I can find a moment to stop giggling like a five year old, my words for this install is "Wow, this is awesome." Seriously, This is probably one of my favorite mods I've done yet. It's LOUD. I mean literally a train is coming through loud lol. If you already have bags and have had a thought on a train horn, just do it and you won't regret it.
I purchased a 4x Train Horn Setup from Hornblasters.com (Here)
If you already have an air suspension setup, the kit I linked comes with everything you need, besides a few custom items. If you do not have bags, then Horn Blasters also sells a separate kit for those who need an air tank, compressor etc.
The only Items I had to buy separately were
- A Switch
- 12' of 10 Gauge Stranded Wire
- 90* 1/4" NPT to 1/2" PTC Brass Fitting
- Misc Wire Connectors, Splicers etc.
To start off I needed to find a place to mount these 4 horns somewhere on the car. The only place really to fit all that is right under the spare tire well. Not to mention it is conveniently right next to the air supply.
So I played around with some zip ties to mock up where I was going to mount all 4 of them. I found that 2 behind the EVAP cover, and 1 on each side of the spare tire well fit perfect.
Each horn has two mounting points, on each end. One mounting bolt is also the air line thread as well, so that's important to note where you will be installing it. I ended up tracing around each bolt to give a good idea of where I intended to drill, while also keeping in mind where the compressors, controller and air tank are at on the other side.
With the holes drilled out, I mounted each horn one at a time.
Then installed each 90* 1/4" Fittings.
With the compressors out, it was a perfect time to install my Dynamat Extreme that Ibought over the Winter. Made a HUGE difference in quieting the compressors down.
Quick mock-up with the compressors and solenoid.
The wiring was really super simple. The ground wire I only had to extend a foot and grounded it right above the Trunk Antenna where there already was a ground present.
Then, I took the positive wire from the solenoid and followed the compressor wires all the way up to the driver side dash using the same route as my air lines.
Next I decided to wire it straight to the positive connection on the passenger side fuse box in the engine bay. I ran the wire down to the fender well, through the rubber grommet into the passenger footwell.
I then fished it through behind the head unit and dash.
Then I drilled a new hole where I wanted to mount the switch, I removed two screws on the left hand side and pulled it out just enough to get my hand behind the dash trim piece I was drilling into.
Now with all the electrical taken care of it was time to complete the air plumbing. I installed the 90* 1/4" NPT to 1/2 PTC Fitting I bought separately.
Cut to fit the provided air line and ran them in a nice clean manner.
Finally the video, seriously you may want to turn your volume down.
