Standard Equipment, Going Fast: Shelby GT350 Mustang Owners Get Complimentary Performance Driving School

  • GT350 Track Attack program gives owners of new Ford Shelby GT350® Mustang hands-on track instruction with Ford Performance Racing School instructors at Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah
  • Complimentary program offered to owners of 2015 and 2016 Shelby GT350 and Shelby® GT350R Mustang
  • GT350 Track Attack program begins in April
DEARBORN, Mich., March 9, 2016 – It’s one thing to buy a fire-breathing, 526-horsepower Shelby GT350® Mustang, and it’s another thing to understand how to really drive it.

Owners of 2015 and 2016 Shelby GT350 and Shelby® GT350R Mustang are invited to learn the capabilities of their car as part of the complimentary GT350 Track Attack program offered by Ford Performance Racing School, located at Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah.

The program is designed to help drivers at all skill levels understand the nuances of their car’s performance and handling in a safe environment under professional supervision. The experience not only teaches high-performance driving skills, including braking, shifting and cornering techniques, but also focuses on the particular dynamics of the GT350 and GT350R.

“GT350 is a car that needs to be experienced on a closed road course,” said Jim Owens, Ford Performance marketing manager. “The program is designed for owners to learn how to get the most out of their car so they can appreciate the unique performance Shelby GT350 delivers, while also gaining driving skills and experience. It’s going to be a ton of fun.”

The GT350 Track Attack program begins with an evening reception followed by a one-day performance driving school. Students will participate in both classroom and on-track driving tutorials with Ford Performance Racing School instructors.

The program is included with the purchase of a 2015 or 2016 Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang. While the one-day drive event is complimentary and owners do not need to bring their own car, they are responsible for their airfare and lodging. For a cost, participants can opt for a second track day, as well as additional driving and non-driving programs.

“Regardless of a person’s driving ability, this will be an unbelievable experience,” said Dan McKeever, president, Ford Performance Racing School. From the weekend track warrior to the car collector, this program provides the skills needed to really enjoy Shelby GT350 Mustang in the environment for which it is designed.”

Participants are encouraged to bring a guest along to watch. For an additional cost, they can get behind the wheel of one of the school’s race-prepared 2015 Mustangs, or extend their experience another day to drive a race-prepared Boss 302 or Mustang GT.

UPDATE (1/26/16) -- GT350 TRACK ATTACK PROGRAM CONFIRMED FOR APRIL; REGISTRATION OPENS IN EARLY FEBRUARY

GT350 Track Attack.jpg

After months of uncertainty due to recent ownership change at the track formerly known as Miller Motorsports Park, details regarding Ford Performance's GT350 Track Attack have finally been confirmed.

The GT350 Track Attack will be similar in scope as the Boss program, featuring a one-day track and classroom experience under the tutelage of Ford Performance Racing School instructors and being made available to owners of the new 2015 and 2016 Shelby GT350. Recent Boss 302 owners will also be familiar with the venue as the GT350 Track Attack will be held at the newly renamed Utah Motorsports Campus (formerly MMP) which is also the former home of the Boss Track Attack.

The Shelby GT350 Track Attack will open for registration in early February with classes starting in early April.

Is there any info on there being something similar to the Boss track attack program that buyers could take part in being available for GT350 buyers?

MMP is closing (which is a damned shame IMO), but Ford Performance is apparently looking for another home base I read somewhere.

They had definitely tossed the idea around, so it might yet pop up somewhere.

Hate to necro-bump but there's obviously been a lot of news about this topic.

tl;dr The Miller family didn't renew their lease on the land and the county attempted to sale the land and all the facilities via a bidding process. New Chinese owners, Mitime, wanted to invest a significant amount of money in the facility over X years and keep running it as a motorsports park. A higher bidder that wanted to turn the place into a kind of track country club sued to get the original sale thrown out. Now the county has hired Mitime to run the track for the 2016 season while another sales process is completed.

Whew. Got all that?

Well, here's the good news everybody, the Track Attack will take place for GT350 owners at Ford Racing School which is pretty much a lock to happen at the newly renamed Utah Motorsports Campus. http://www.gt350trackattack.com The only thing that could potentially derail this is more legal action by that crap-head developer guy. Still, I'm very pumped.

I'm not sure how long that site has been up content wise but I'm not telling you news from a year ago. VooDooBoss on TMO looks to be quite well connected and his confirmation jives with all the other information out there surrounding the track.
