Have you guys heard about an "issue" with the timing sprocket on the S550? Apparently the 15s have a thinner, weaker sprocket relative to the 11-14 cars.

Someone sent me a post from fb of a guy with a TVS car that had a sprocket break. Are you guys upgrading to a billet sprocket. I already put a set of billet OPGs in. I'm going to be pissed if I should have changed the sprocket too!

I need more proof than some unknown dude posting "apparently this is fact!" on Facebook.

One car with a problem does not a problem make.

Totally agree. I'm just fishing to see if others have heard of similar problems.

MMR started selling a replacement billet piece a while ago. They are claiming the 15+ is thinner than the old one and prone to breaking too.

I would think that if this were that big of a risk we would be seeing a lot more of these. There are plenty of 15s out there making way more torque, and i have only heard of one breaking.

Is this something that is more prone to breaking on a launch or with wheel hop? Or is this something that could break at any time under signficant throttle.

These broke on 2011-2014 as well. Same crap shoot as the oil pump.

I don''t think I've seen anyone replace this part on a 2015 yet. Am I wrong? Also wondering at what boost pressure you're likely to see it go. Doubt it's 7 PSI.

we changed billet oil pump gears and crank sprocket before installing s/c

we lost 3 on the 11-14 cars, and they are slightly larger

At what power level did they let go, though?

Obviously, in a modified 600 hp engine...a upgrade is probably needed. However, is it needed in a stock engine with just a CAI and headers???

Hopefully not.
