There will be no 2018 GT500....2019 is the year...5.0L w/ new 2.65L TVS
I think a 10 speed Auto would be the ticket too!
I think you're onto something here Jim!!
The 10 speed automatic will be optional as a manual with be standard, of course.

Did you mean 180mph speeds down the straight on the ring? Or in the 1/4?
As I stated in my OP, there are reports of 180+ trap speeds at the Gring... unless they built a dragway there one would have no reason to believe I was referring to a 1/4-mile time.

I'm no Gring expert but a sub-7:30 Gring time sounds like 180+ mph trap speeds are doable. We obviously know the 350R couldn't achieve such with the rear wing, so that would mean the ZL1 is slicker and quicker... something to be respected.

Sorry. But it's not going to be a 5.0

It's too bad the ZL-1 competition is just another more of the same with just slight changes. I guess that's to be expected.

I hope Ford still does something unique and impressive with the next GT500. Otherwise the previous generation GT500s can stand on their own versus the new ZL-1. Chevy just wasn't able to one-up Ford this time around.

My opinion is still that the GT500 won't come around again until after the redesign in 2020, but I would love to be proven wrong.

Most people don't refer to top speeds achieved on Nordschleife's straightaway as "Trap Speeds" since there is no official or consistent "trap" at Antoniusbuche or Tiergarten.

"Trap Speeds" are commonly used for the speed achieved through the "Trap" in the 1/4 mile.

By the way: What is "Gring"?

Lee Majors you know what he means by "Gring" why do you always have to be so politically correct?

I don't, but I'm assuming he is referring to the Nordschleife. I'm just wondering what the significance of the "G" is since I've never heard anyone call it that.

I would expect someone that asks what the Gring is to only assume trap speeds are recorded at a 1/4 strip... smdh.

The thread should end with "on a road course". The supercharged LT4 engine is disappointing in a straight line.

It's an honest question, and you and Jake are being quite pissy about it. The only explanation i can come up with is "Germany"-Nurburgring for "Gring". Is that what you meant?

Actually it's pretty dang impressive in s straight line.

It's got power, traction, and a transmission that hammers out shifts like no tomorrow.

That said, the GT500 should stomp all over it.

Again.

The new zl1 has been tested to 11.4's in the 1/4 mile the previous zl1 was tested at 12.4 in 1/4 mile. So its the same performance as the the 2014 gt500 which is a heavier car then the zl1! Most who will buy the zl1 will never make it to a road course so who cares!
