All I wanna know is how it will be configured! My dream GT500 is a twin turbo V8, AWD, and a Dual Clutch Transmission.. AKA the Godzilla killer :)
Amen! Even though I know the AWD is a long shot and would not be a deal breaker!!

As of today, I still do not think Ford is going to do another GT500. Ford may produce a Mustang to out run the Hellcat and ZL1 , but I dont think it will be called a GT500.

Yea, I am okay with that. I think the GT500 was sent to the pasture at the top of its game. Time for a new warrior to fight the horsepower wars.

If there was going to be a new GT500 relatively soon I would think that we would have seen more cars driving around. The cars we have seen I'm not sure they are GT500 mules. This is just based on the way Ford has done things in the past.

Absolutely. There's a every chance the "Twin Turbo GT500 Mule" that was spotted with heavy front camo was, in fact, an '18MY GT350.

Now, an '18 GT350 might debut the same time as the rest of the V6/Ecoboost/GT facelifted '18s at Detroit in January, but I very much doubt we'll see anything GT500 related until a year later.

My bet is that Ford's priority list is
1. GT
2. GT500
3. GT350

The current GT350R (and R-C) are already homologated and qualified for GT4 racing for 2017. Ford Performance doesn't need a highly upgraded 2018 GT350 for 2017. Just some moderate visual upgrades.
More manufacturers will be joining GT4 racing next year, but the 5.2 FPC has plenty of power in reserve behind those restrictors to take them on and hopefully have a decent championship opportunity. But it will be a tougher year than 2016 and Ford and Multimatic will need to enhance the GT350R-C for the 2018 racing season.
I bet some styling changes and early S650 chassis changes for the 2019 GT350.

The Hellcat has gone unanswered too long and now Ford knows what the ZL1 has to offer. Waiting for two years to answer the competition is what Chevy does. Not Ford.
I bet we will see the 2018 GT500 Turbo at the next show after the GT and on the street (and podium) by summer.

Wishful thinking?
Probably!

I'd be surprised if the GT350 disappeared for a single model year, but anythings's possible :)

I'm just looking forward to whatever Ford is getting ready to offer us.....just wish I knew what n when :D

I didn't mean to suggest there would not be a 2018 GT350. My bet is that it will just be a moderate change in appearance in keeping with the GT changes to the lights etc. Not something that needs a lot of mule testing like a new GT500 would.

I updated my original post accordingly.

I would think putting the 10 speed auto in the 350 is a no brainer! But they really need to put the Hellcat in its place and that would be the 500's job! Hopefully soon!

I have a fairly "strong" feeling we will be seeing the new powerhouse for Ford unveiled in January as a 2019 model year. Also I don't know how many of you saw or read about the new Eaton tvs r2650 rotor pack they unveiled at sema but I also have a strong suspicion that it will find its way into the mix also. With all this I'd venture as to say it'll be a 750-800 hp car.
