Heard a GT500 is coming before a Mach1
At first, I was surprised to hear this, but perhaps I shouldn't be.

We're all pretty much expecting the facelifted car to debut as an '18MY, so that'll take care of the V6 (assuming it carries over), Ecoboost and GT. That's probably enough for the '18MY, especially if we get a tweaked Coyote and 10-speed auto, as many suspect.

Then perhaps, the '19MY for the GT500.

I'd be surprised to see two SEs in the same year, especially if they are both Ford Performance jobbies.

That being said, I half expected to see the Mach 1 for the '19MY to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

Once again, Ford keeps us guessing :D

I'm not sure why this has t been published.

FoMoCo removed it from FB. Not sure why it would be sensitive. Can you see what's up? I have been trying to publish this for a day or so.

Thanks!!!

If a Mach 1 was a Supercharged V8 and it was deemed a Twin Turbo or BiTurbo/Twin Scroll V8 was a better option, would a Mach 1 still be required?

Once a GT500 is released, there is no room for a Mach 1 in the MSRP ladder.

EB Option Group: $26,000-$35,000
GT Option Group: $35,000-$55,000
GT350 Group: $55,000-$65,000
GT500 Group: $65,000-79,995

The only place a Mach 1 could fit now is in the GT Option Group as a Drag Pack. Which is where I think ALL Special Editions and B-Day packages should go.

I am guessing we will see the same blower as the new CJ mustang.

The CJ has been using the same Whipple for a few years now. Only change I've seen is front inlet vs rear inlet. The '13-14 GT500 had a 2.3 TVS when the same year CJ had the 2.9 Whipple.

This is exactly what my sales guy at Ford told me.
We were looking at their (4) GT350 in stock.
I asked him about the GT500, he said that they couldn't more power in it with RWD. He suggested that they were going the way of the Focus RS, Turbo and AWD.
Then he went on with stating that it would probably get a tuned version of the 3.5 TT debuting in the Raptor.

The reason the Camaro has the holes for AWD is because its based off of an ATS which is AWD. The mustang could carry the spindles over to another car but I don't see it since theres no shared chassis with the S550. I also think they will use the twin turbo 5.2 with the cross plane crank. Theres a reason Ford Performance has developed that platform for the crate engines. Also the twin turbo Cobra jet motor they had in 2013 or 2014 looked very finished and should easily make more than 700 which would be a great option for the new GT500, boat load of power and decent hwy MPGs.

That assumes the GT350 will still be around at the same time as GT500.

My guess would be that perhaps the '17MY is the last of the GT350s........and that gap would then be filled by another N/A car (Mach 1). I wouldn't see it using the FPC, but perhaps a CPC version of the 5.2 The GT500 could then be a twin turbo/SC version of that CPC 5.2 engine.

I didn't think you could option a regular GT Premium past 45k. That leaves an entire 10k dollar gap between the top of the line GT and the base model 2017 GT350 at ~55k (assuming it continues on. I also think it'll be discontinued after the 2017 model year). Somewhere between 45k-55k is plenty of room to fit a Mach 1.

By 2018, there could be more GT Equipment Groups to option. The Base MSRP will come up to, maybe 2-3%.

I don't think you can, at least with a coupe. I have a fully loaded GT convertible (every option, ACC, Rear cam, Sync3, Nav, PP, etc.) and the MSRP was just under $50K.

I think there really is a price segment, for a better-than-GT but not-a-GT350 type car. Regardless of the name, I'd say a 465-475 NA motor, mag suspension, maybe a few other GT350 components, some unique to the model touches (even if just cosmetic), $47-53K.

[edit]

My money (about a $1 :D) on the motor for the S550 based GT500 is a 5.2L CPC TT V8. That would help to manage costs better (in terms of the some of the shared components), the current turbo tech is pretty spectacular (look at Porsche, BMW, etc), __and__ I think it would provide an interesting differentiation point for the GT500 in the domestic market. Z06 (supercharged, OHV), ZL1 (same), Caddy V (same), Hellcat (same-ish) ... suddenly Ford steps up with a 32v, OHC, 5.2L Twin Turbo V8? 7xxx HP?

*BOOM*
