Dumb question from a non-engineer guy. Why not a twin-turbo straight 6? Aluminum block too? Wouldn't you get a mill that's both high-winding and smooth?
It sure could work. Going away from V motors could be a method to save space and make the car narrower. However, I really hope Ford goes to smaller displacement V8s rather than an inline motor.

+1 I'd rather have a TT 3.5L V8 like these Lotus Esprits had, than a TT 3.5L V6 any day.
