Yes, but I'm sure Ford will release the GT500 to their own schedule. They won't look to rush anything just to react to the ZL1.

My guess? The '18MY S550 is highly likely to be the facelifted model, so they'll launch the Ecoboost, V6 (I assume the V6 will still be offered) and the GT. It'd be cool if the Mach 1 were to be launched at the same time. Then, either later in the '18MY or perhaps for the '19MY, they can roll out the GT500 :headbang:

Ford doesn't react overnight to anything.

The GT350 was in the works starting in 2012 (Ford Performance has said they consulted with Carroll Shelby on the early pieces before he died in May of 2012)

I'm guessing the GT500 started sometime in early 2014 once the platform was set for the GT350.

The S550 has been in the works for a *long* time now, and all the models/options were set and in the works years ago.

Yes, I know that. Back in 2012, Chevy came out with the 2012 ZL1 bragging about trumping the 2012 GT500, 580 vs 550 HP. Not long after that, Ford came out with their 662 HP GT500 hurting GM's feelings. If the GT500 is already developed, the New York auto show would be a great place to hurt GM's feelings once again. Everyone will be talking about the Zl1 until the GT500 is unveiled with 700+Hp. It would make ford look good and cause the Zl1 to lose a little "luster". It's not going to happen but it sure would be cool.

That would be awesome "if there is" going to be a 2017 GT500. That means it would/could probably make it's debut sometime later this year!

Unfortunately, price wise it will be out of reach for most. That's why i got a GT 350 as it's already a big chunk of change for a Mustang .

I totally agree. My car cost as much as your GT350. I could have afforded a GT500 first go round, but was worried about the insurance, so I didn't bite. After paying my current car off, I'm not making that mistake this time around. Just as long as it's got gobs of power and torque and looks great!
Enjoy the GT350 bro. Awesome cars.

Depends on whats in the 500. If its just got a supercharged 5.2 with an auto option, I wouldn't see it costing more than 65K base (same as the gt350 is going for *loaded* with ADM, or 10 more without). Thats not a huge step up from a GT350, but I understand 10K is a lot to some. I can also see the GT500 garnering over 10K ADM for quite some time, so if thats the case, 20K difference, base, is a chunk. Add in some goodies and perhaps a KR version that runs 85K before ADM. Yeah, not cheap, but it will be an awesome vehicle.

The 2017 Ford Raptor and 2017 Camaro ZL1 Use the Same Automatic Transmission

"The jointly developed 10-speed auto shows GM and Ford can work together."

"GM says it will be in eight models by 2018. You can bet that includes the Silverado, Tahoe, and Escalade, as well as rear-wheel-drive cars like the Corvette and CTS. At Ford, look for it in regular F-150s as well as the next Lincoln Navigator and the next Mustang."
