NorCal/Sac Valley Auto-X, Track Days, Drags

Hey y'all,

There's been a lot of discussion in random threads (like event threads from the past) about what performance driving events we are all planning on attending, prep, results, observations, etc. - I thought it would be good to have one continuous thread to communicate on what our NorCal members are up to. Would like to meet more of you guys/girls out there...

My focus this year will be Sac area SCCA Autocrossing (Mather & Stockton), track days (mainly at Thunderhill, but Sonoma and Laguna Seca also poossible), and maybe some drags at Sac Raceway.

Lots of ways to get on road courses, but most cost effective seems to be NCRC: http://www.ncracing.org/events.php - 5 x 20min sessions for $160!!

And SCCA Track Night is fun, cheap, and less time commit - gates open at 3pm, and you'll be out by 7 or 8pm. $125 for 3 x 20min sessions, they do this once a month through September

This day has four Open Track run groups with five 20-25 minute sessions per group. There is no novice Driving School or Race at this event.
3-Mile CCW Cyclone configuration.

Sunday, May 29 - SCCA Rallycross at Prairie City (not in the Stang....but I guess you could, there are some RWD that always show up, and I've seen someone do it in a rental Camaro)

I'm also going to contact Sierra College and see if we can do an autocross event there a few times a year. I'll let you know what I hear!

I usually go every year. I'll be there Saturday as I have a track day at T-Hill Sunday.

It's like the old saying about racing - easy to make a small fortune...you just start with a large one!

Seriously! Funnest thing you can do with your clothes on though.

I'll be doing the previously mentioned autocross tomorrow 5/21 at Mather. My first autocross, should be fun.

Woooweee!! Autocrossing in the rain! Like drift practice??

Interesting to see how they'll handle that....

I've done rallycross in rain, but never autocross.

We'll see how wet it is. My weather report says rain is unlikely until noon, when my runs should be mostly over. If not...oh well. Good practice. The web sign-up page says 32 participants right now. Looks like I'm the only 'stang and the only F street is a '14 camaro. And I'm signed up on fun runs right now. Wonder if I can change that. If there are only 5-10 cars running per group we should get a lot of runs.

Helmet is borrowed and fits, car is all emptied out, I'll top up the tires and check oil in the morning. Gopro mounted and ready (camera just to the right of the rear view, mic hanging off the license plate). *fingers crossed* I'm all ready to go.

Nice! Have a blast, and do share video. More seat time pushing the car in any conditions only makes us better drivers. A lot of people tend to sign up as walk-on's, so it will be interesting to see the final count.

BTW, if that '14 Camaro in FS is a white 1LE with black hood and Griots Garage decals, that guy is an animal. Runs close to Corvette times...

That would be him.

So the '14 Mustang GT that was there was running upper 50s. I ran upper 60s. Experience (and tires) does count for a lot. And the stock tires are just horribad.
