European Maps for NAV

I think Sync 2 users here.com (the old Nokia mapping business) so you probably need to pop out the SD card and take it from there - presuming that Sync 3 still uses and SD card!

Sync 2 and 3 use completely different hardware and software (Microsoft vs. Blackberry) but hopefully the nav maps are the same...

Where is your SD card located? I haven't seen any slots for one in my car yet, and I didn't see anything about it in the manual. I'll search the online manual and the US section of the forum, in case I missed it.

I don't think my car ever had transport mode enabled. I had full access of the vehicle upon delivery (3rd party transport service), however they may have disabled it.. who knows.

I wasn't able to make it down to the Tuscany area this trip :(, but I did go to Amsterdam, Koln, Bruge, and Berlin. I saw two S550s, one red leaving the Amsterdam area, and one black in Berlin, both either V6 or EB.

It is inside the centre armrest behind the cup holders

There is no SD card slot, just USB and a 12V outlet. I might have to contact Ford directly, because I'm not sure I can even activate the SYNC stuff--it only accepts stateside cellphone numbers, and the updates for maps and stuff appears to be via SYNC.

I couldn't tell you because I never used the F4.

But it doesn't install anything so I assume it's only data.

'Upgraded' from F4 to F5 and haven't noticed any difference other than I assume the maps are more up to date.

Yes. Usually the OEM navi is very restrictive and "locked" to any modifications. That's why the card is write protected.

Went to my dealer today. According to them, i have the latest map update date 30/3-2015. I am guessing he has no idea as usual and the F5 version is a later version.....

Could anyone with F5 enlighten me please and tell me a date?

I have some more info. Received my new F5 card some days ago and did some comparison.

Files are readable but card have a strange size (45gb). I haven't tried to copy or modify anything. As you can see, F5 is about 1gb smaller than F4, but the "map=20130315" in both F4 and F5 version.txt seems to me that map data are the same. Probably they have updated POI info..

Sd card contains also Gracenote DB, but I don't know much about that.

I took some map pictures when I see missing roads, so when I drive there with new map I can compare and I hope they also add those roads!!

Does this work all over Europe?
