Anyone going to upgrade to the V8? I bought my V6 a year ago at $23K, KBB value is around $17K for trade in.

Im iffy about it... for me the V6 is just enough power for me to wang on it at 100% and not kill myself/wreck. The sound is decent with my exhaust setup but i'm sick of the MT-82 and honestly would love to have the convenience of an automatic, especially a 10 speed from the Camaro ZL1.

Honestly at first glance I HATED the redesign, but now its growing on me. Reminds me of the newer Jaguars.

Thoughts?

Get the car you really want or you'll never be happy. Test it and see for yourself when they're available. I already knew what I wanted and got the car I desired so I am not interested in trading up for a V8 nor the 10 speed as I prefer manuals. I'll be here for a long time.

I'll eventually probably upgrade to a GT. But my timetable is sometime in 2019 no sooner than that.
The V6 is actually my first car and I love it. It is also fully paid so I'll more than likely keep it regardless if I get a GT or not. I am seriously considering procharging down the line.

I plan on keeping my V6 for a long time. A stroker kit is in my future and i plan on taking this engine as far as it'l go. I like the idea of less weight over the front axle.

Well with the 3.7 dropped the cheapest entry point is what $26,195 now for base eco with manual transmission? Its almost expected to see the 3.7 dropped for 2018 we all know that Ford was really pushing the ecoboost and stifling the V6 options so its no surprise to me. It kind of disappointing to see it go without any improvements since it was released for the previous gen S197. Honestly it was the only good V6 ever in a mustang. But the ecoboost is measurably better in other areas. All other V6 engines for previous years were dog poop.

For me there is a 2018 or 2019 GT with my name on in Kona Blue or Orange Fury ! The look has grown on me and the 10 speed auto, digital gauges, power bump, new interior color options, standard quad exhaust, optional exhaust valves, and perfromace pack with mag ride is to much too pass up. I spent quite a bit of effort putting my own performance pack on the V6 since i like to autocross and do HDPE and now i just want to have a car with that stuff ready to rock from the factory.

Yeah I think a lot of us V6 folks got it for the reliability and maintenance costs vs a turbo because we're keeping it for a while.

Redesign looks nice, but it'll take more than that for me to consider moving up.

I've had my V6 since April 2015. It's my first Mustang and I love it. I still love getting into my car just as when I first got it, I still look back at it when i have to leave it, I still enjoy the cold start ups and hearing the Flowmasters roar, the MT82 could be a bit better and I still have notchy shifts from time to time, and the power is most definitely enough for me, I've already gotten 2 speeding tickets.

As far as trading up, I will probably trade up in a few years. I'm still enjoying my car just as I did back in Apr2015 so I don't see a logical reason to have to trade up yet. The only thing that will make me want to trade up quick is if they don't offer a manual transmission for the new gen s650 Stangs. I do have an odd feeling that they will not offer it after the s550's. In that case I will trade in my 2015 V6 for a 2019 GT with 6 speed.

Will be sad to see the V6 go. Very underappreciated motor that poured in a lot of money for Ford all these years. But I really think it's gonna come back for the s650 with the 3.5eb or the 2.7eb. Can't wait to see that.

In 2012 I bought a 2010 with thr 4.0L 210hp V6. The 3.7L was out, but I felt the 4.0L with its 95 less HP was good enough. I was forced to see all the 2011-2012 Mustangs running around with the same body style/interior as me, with dual exhausts and better transmissions, until I decided to get rid of the 2010 (I had my 68 302 still at the time, so I still had my Mustang fever cured)

But ever since then, I was dead set on the 3.7L, and I knew going into the dealer that's what I was walking out with. I enjoy the engine a lot, Its great, even with Ford purposely detuning in for 2015-17.

But then I drove my friends 5.0..... and I don't like the front end of the 2018. So I'm at a point of getting a 2017 GT, or bypassing and waiting to see what the S650 looks like. But in 2020, if it looks bad, I will have lost my opportunity for a NEW 2017. I also get zplan now, but I don't that will last much longer.

So I've been fighting.my want to trade in and capitalizing on z-plan as well as the nicer looking 2017.

Ford is offering 0% 72-month financing in Central Florida right now. I don't know if they're offering that nationally, though. If they are, and you have the opportunity to buy on the Z-plan, now is an awesome time to buy a new GT. Your Z-plan discount is the same as the A-plan, so you're not going to get any better discount. With Z and A-plan, you're guaranteed to receive the financing offer, too, unless things have changed the last couple years since I was able to buy Z-plan. If I were you, and you're really interested in a new GT, I'd seriously look at doing things now. Just my $.02...

How did it feel going from a 4.0 to a 3.7? Always wondered this as I've never driven a 4.0.

For me I don't see it as a big loss. Currently, the price between the base V6 and the base Eco is 1k. For me they were the exact same price since I got the 051A, which brought the V6 to parity with the base Eco. Yes the Eco sounds weak w/ a stock exhaust, but so does the V6 when you compare it to a VQ. Yes the Eco's reliability was unknown when the S550 released, but that was 3 years ago, so I wouldn't worry about that as much. As a V6 driver even I can admit there's not much purpose in keeping it around.

The V6 is only gone for a short while and will return. I see the future lineup will continue with the 3.5TT pretty soon, its just the logistics of getting there without burning the loyalists.
I see the future lineup transitions :
2018: 4EB, V8
2019: 4EB, V6TT EB, V8
New gen: Hybrid, V6EB,V8,V8EB (perf. trim pkg)
New refresh: Hybrid,V6EB,V8EB
Hybrid, V8EB
Hybrid

Actually I see the line up being

2018: 4eb, V8
2019: 4eb, V8
2020 (s650): 4eb, na-V8, TTV6 (top trim)

But then I also have a feeling that the V8 may possibly be scrapped for 2020. Only because the Raptor and GT lost the V8.
