Here are both of my Mustangs pushed up against my non-hurricane rated garage door with plywood (and padding, of course) to stiffen the door. My wife's SUV is sideways in front of the door to help block the wind. This has worked well in the past with Charley, Francis, Jeanne, Matthew, etc... hoping for the best with Irma! I'll post back after!

I never lost power, either! The garage trick worked again... no damage to the garage door even though it was rattling like crazy in the tracks. Just had a tree fall in the backyard and it took out a fence. Could have been much worse!

I drove around a bit and then put her in the garage. No issues and never lost power. I'm in Spring Hill (north of Tampa). Now my problem is finding premium fuel to fill... The blower tune requires it.

Yeah that is another issue now. There is no gas around here and 93 might take a while to make it back. With the other storm out there people are going to be scared again making gas still hard to find.

I was reading about the SECO power outages looks like I might not have power for several days........

Mustang was okay lot of crud in all the cracks using it to cool down and charge my phone.

Oops double post.

Has anyone seen any trucks out trying to get the power back on? I have not seen one. Major intersections have lights with no power. Still no gas. Not looking good......

This is what I ended up with. The white SUV is where I normally end up parking, but I got a better spot this time and just ended up with a bunch of leaves all over and in the cracks.

I had mine in the garage through the storm, but actually damaged it on Friday in a rush and exhausted to get stuff done at work. We had our building blocked off with trailers and I was parked in a spot I don't normally park in. Backed out, and didn't see the gate card reader pole in my driver blind spot. Camera might have barely caught it, but had some glare and it didn't help.

Punctured my rear bumper cover, which then ripped off the thing. Damaged the driver taillight, too. Managed to get it all snapped back in and doesn't appear to be any structural damage other than the bumper/taillight. I only hit it at like 5 MPH. Might be some broken plastic pieces or something.

So anyways, who knows of a great bodyshop in the Orlando area? South side, preferred.

Bright side... my new rims and tires will be on the way soon.

FU Irma! :D

Had the GT in the garage, it's a new door so seals very tight, front and side door was thoroughly sandbagged.

For some extra effort: I put my car on ramps and jack stands. The garage had some flooding - totally missed my car! Well, the front tire had water to the top of the lower sidewall, barely even made contact with the wheel (the rear was another 5-6" higher).

Woo!
