I like the Steeda CAI, but I'm concerned about water getting in the hood vent above it. Is that an issue that Steeda has researched or validated?

I have the Steeda CAI ready to go in and have same concern after watching a video on YouTube where the guy placed paper towels over the filter and then watered the hood. The towels were soaked when he opened it again.
I know the filter gauze is saturated with oil and should repel the water but it can't suck air where water is sitting on it.
Seems to me that fashioning a little deflection plate to guide the water away from the air box under that side's hood vent should relieve any concern. Could be attached to the underside of the hood or hover above the air box from a fabricated bracket secured to the core support or fender.

As others have mentioned, no issue. Check out this video we did a while back:

I have this same concern, I am ready to drop for the Steeda induction package (CAI and Tuner) but im afraid of cash wash water and rain getting onto my filter while its parked outside all the time.

No issues here. I run a non-oiled filter too.

I know I'm super late on responding to this, but whatever. I installed my Steeda CAI on Jan 1st of this year, since then we have had lots of snow, rain, blizzards, more rain, and even more snow and I wash my car at least 3 or 4 times a month, with a pressure washer.

I have had no issues with water at all.

My car has been out in "end of days"-grade rain and there wasn't a drop of water on my stock air cleaner housing or anywhere in the engine bay. If you don't want the design like Steeda's, get one of the ones that is enclosed.

Ill have to see what happened to the video - in short, we showed our Boss 302 getting soaked with a hose & no water penetrated the CAI.

Please note, we have several Steeda Mustangs in FL & GA - running the Steeda CAI year round - through car washes, monsoons, etc. & we and our customers have never had an issue.

If there were issues, you would hear more about it on the forums - you have nothing to worry about.

Best Regards,

TJ

I installed my Steeda CAI in late '15. I added the Hood Scoops (functional driver side only) in mid '16. I've driven on I-95 in some Florida "monsoons", thru car washes and have never had an issue with water.

Just don't point the garden hose on full blast directly into the scoop, although I doubt anything would happen other than the filter getting wet on the topside.

It's like TJ said:

Thanks for the details with pictures.

I have the Roush hood vents and cut the hood and the plastic cover on the bottom of the Roush vents to let it breath.

FYI - we currently have 20% off the Steeda CAIs if you are ready to pull the trigger!
