I have done a lot of searching on this and don't think i've found my exact answer so I decided to make a thread hopefully to find my answer and help anyone else looking for the same answer.
I am in search of a inexpensive drag radial setup for the woman's ecoboost automatic so she actually has traction at the track. On the stock all-seasons, 1st gear is absolutely useless.
Car Details:
2016 Ecoboost Fastback
Automatic Transmission
3.15 rear gear
Stock suspension
FRPP Tune and intake
Stock everything else
Option 1: My 16x10" CCW's with a 28x10 slick from my '04. Did NOT fit over the rear brakes. Not even close.
Option 2: OEM 17x8 99-04 GT wheels with 275/40/17 MT Radials. Stock tires are 235/50/18 which are 27.2" tall. The 275/40/17 would be 25.7" tall.
Stock ratios put me at max speed of 124.5 mph in 4th gear @ 6,000 rpm.
The 275's would put max speed at 117.6 mph @ 6,000 rpm.
This obviously gives me a gearing advantage using the smaller tire, but would these rims even fit? I know these were pretty sucked in when I had them on my '04.
Option 3: 17x10 +20 10th anniversary cobra reps. These are the ones I am most curious about because of the width. I believe these are 99-04 offset and I can grab them cheap. I would put a 315/35/17 MT on these and would have more traction than she needs and would give the gearing advantage as well being that they are smaller diameter like Option 2.
I think a 28" tire would end up hurting times since the car has a 3.15 rear gear. Am I correct on this assumption?
The only thing i've seen so far is a thread with a 17x9 '95 Cobra R reps with 28x10 slicks mounted. Hoping to get some answers here though.
Thank you,
