This is a true H code Mach1, but since it was the base model back then, I've made it into what it is today over the last 27 years of ownership. Driven once or twice a week on nice days only and always garaged. You must see it for yourself, for sure.
Essentially new drive train from front to back now;
• Engine - Pro built 395 cubic inch Windsor with AFR 185 Renegade heads (installed Jan 2014 with ~143k miles on the car, so less than 2000 miles on this engine), fluidamper, 475 hp @ 6k rpm and 479 trq @ 4500 rpm, based on Dyno2000 (see pic)
• Tranny - Pro built Astro A5, 5 speed manual trans w/.73 OD, 9310 main shaft and bronze shift forks, hydraulic 10.5" clutch, Hurst T handle (installed late Aug 2015, so ~500 miles on this tranny)
• Driveshaft - New 3.5" aluminum with upgraded 1350 u-joints and yokes (from Denny's)
• Rear end - Pro built 9 inch, 3.50:1 ratio, limited slip differential w/New clutch pak and various parts, New axle bearings & seals
• Ignition - MSD electronic throughout, no points to adjust
• Induction - Pro tuned (with wide band O2 sensor) 4 barrel 750 cfm Holley on aluminum single plane intake manifold, cotton element drawing outside air thru hood scoop. New fuel system; pump, filter and hose.
• Exhaust - hedman headers, high flow glass pack mufflers and 2.5" dual pipes with crossover tube
• Brakes - Upgraded to front disks, stock rear drums
• Wheels - New 17x8 front/18x9 rear American Racing VN701 Nova wheels w/redline stripes
• Tires - New 235/50r17(96W)/285/40r18(101Y) max perf. summer tires, Conti Extreme Contact DW
• Steering - Pro installed Flaming River rack and pinion with tilting column steering wheel.
• Suspension - 2" drop with New rear reverse eye leaf springs & New front polyurethane spring saddles & insulators, Shelby geometry correction, poly bushings, gas shocks, front and rear sway bars
• Electrical - Battery located in the trunk with New 1 gauge wire running to the front. Geared mini starter.
• Paint - Grabber yellow with 70 Mach1 hood stripe over the roof and down the back, 69 Boss 302 head light and tail panel blackouts, 69 Mach1 stripe kit and removable HotWheels Scale 1 to 1 stickers.
• Body - Front and rear spoilers, and hood tach (structurally sound, paint/body may need work if that's what you want)
• Interior - Black seating upholstery from a 70 Boss 302, black dash and carpet, electric air lumbar support in driver's seat (front seats are currently covered for protection)
• Lighting - rewired headlights with relays and used brighter/whiter halogens, much brighter now
• Sound system - 500+ watts, 2 amps, 6 speakers (2 in front doors, 2 in rear panels and 2 ten inch subs), AM/FM cassette (yeah baby!), but to be honest I haven't listened to it in years
Cruises around 2500 rpm on the highway at 75 mph, gets up and goes on the street!
This is not a show car, it's a go car, though it looks pretty good anyway.
This is not a race car either but it's seen 1/4 mile, road race and autocross tracks along the way.
I've put close to $20k into in the last 3 years alone to create this fun to drive classic muscle car. Probably have another $20k in the previous years, so my loss is your gain.
