I have been experiencing rumbling & vibration between 50 & 70 mph, which kind of felt like the wheels were out of balance. After rebalancing them twice, the dealer even tried a different set of wheels & tires - no luck.

They now believe that the drive shaft needs replacing - at 1100 miles. :frusty:

Anyone else experiencing this?

Kinda sucks the joy out of road trips, doesn't it?

My dealer called in an engineer from Ford who has spent 2 days with it so far. Still no clue what is wrong with it. If they can't fix it, I will be asking for a replacement vehicle.

Something to keep in mind: Driveshafts on the 3.7 litre engine have been a HUGE problem ever since the engine was introduced in 2011. The speed limiter is set so low on that car because, above about 120 mph, the harmonic vibrations in the driveshaft get so bad that the driveshaft literally rips itself apart (I didn't believe it until I saw photos and videos of people exploding their drive shafts after they removed the governor). This is a common and known issue with that drivetrain.

I know at least one company stopped making aftermarket drive shafts fir the 3.7 because of this -- it was a big deal when I bought my 2011 V6.

I'm glad you were able to get it fixed.

I've been having the exact same problem with my 5.0 automatic since day one...500 miles now. Thanks for posting! I have an appointment tomorrow at my dealership and will show them this thread!

I read somewhere its due to the two piece design of the driveshafts.

Well a Technician and myself went for a ride and he definitely felt the vibration. First thing he thought was that a tire/tires were out of balance, that's when I showed him this thread. He said that he was not against putting a new driveshaft in the car, but would need for me to bring the car back when I could drop it off. Then he would do some more diagnosis and look if Ford had and TSB's on this issue. I was thinking about replacing the 2 piece driveshaft with a 1 piece aluminum...I'm up for suggestions and opinions! Thanks

I have a 2015 V-6 manual trans. 051A, 400 miles and yes I have a vibration 50+ that feels like a driveshaft ( I am a Auto Tech 35 years). The weather in upstate NY has been bad so I havn't driven it in a month, when the weather turns I will be bringing it back to the dealer. Also when I put gas in it the nozzle shut off at 1/2 tank. So keep us posted on the vibration and I will do the same. Thanks,Bill
