Ok I have motocraft 5w30 and 5w50 in my garage. My car was slightly low on oil and I was in a hurry. Like a freaking idiot put in 3/4 of a quart of 5w 30. I mean come on the bottles look exactly the same.

I am gonna change the oil this Thursday, do you all think its safe for normal street driving until then ?

Please dont berate me I already feel like a retard.

Thanks

All good man, I bet we've all done stupider stuff (I forgot to put the oil cap back on for a track session in my FoRS...)

I don't think it's a big deal.

Less than 10% just slightly thinner, I wouldn't sweat it.

Drive it. You'll be fine. That little oopsie is better than being down 3/4 of a quart. Granted that's not the end of the world either.

The only reason FOrd recommends 5W50 is due to the track-oriented nature that they believe GT350 owners would be using their cars with. It's the same reason why Performance Pack GT's use 5W50 while non-performance pack cars can use 5w20 I believe it was. I wouldn't sweat it. Just drive with it unless you plan on tracking it

Considering I was told (on this forum by a couple different members) I could change my oil to 10w30 for straight street driving, I'm sure your less than 1 qt boo-boo isn't going to trash your engine.

Not an issue at all... You could drive on a full load of 5w-30 and be perfectly fine, if not abused.. Just when pushed harder, might become a problem. With 3/4 quart, you are at less than 10% , which means bugger all, like 5w-45 or something :)

Thanks, cant believe I did that crap. Realized it just as was about done pouring it in. Such a rookie move, downright embarrassing.
Don't beat yourself up too much as it has happened to all of us at one time or another.

I takes a good man to admit something like that in front of his peers and of course your engine will be fine based on changing your oil soon!

That car is toast, I'll take it off your hands for a fair price(to me). Then you can get a new one and be more careful! :p

you will be fine.... just don't track it "hard", if you are in beginner, intermediate or high intermediate, you are fine.
