Photoshoot This Weekend

Had a photoshoot this past weekend with a buddy of mine who just picked up a new Nikon D7200. Lucky for me, he got to try it out on my car :D

Steeda IRS Subframe Bushing Support System Install

I was skeptical that these bushing supports alone would actually help much with the constant wheel hop issue... but wow. I'd have to say roughly 90% of it is gone!

I installed these a while back, but finally was able to put them to the test at an autocross event this past weekend. On the launch I warmed up the tires a bit since it was cold outside and it was nice and smooth all the way through. You can hear the difference between the two videos very clearly. Shoutout to David@Steeda for a very high-quality product!

In combination with the CJPP Lowering Springs, the Steeda Bushing Support System did a great job at almost completely eliminating wheel hop! Subframe support braces are next!

The install was relatively easy and straight-forward with the help of Bill's install video!

SCCA Blue Ridge Region Autocross - 4/3/16

I headed down to JMU this past weekend to attend their Madison Motorsports yearly car show - was definitely a lot of fun. But more importantly, I got to run the car in the Blue Ridge Region's first autocross of the year.

Due to the fact I'm running lowering springs, that kicked me out of my initial class of F-Street (FS), so I ran in STU. After looking at the rules, I think I could have run in STP as well, which is the SCCA's new Street Pony class. I'll have to look into that more...

Anyways, I was really happy with how the car performed. You can see in my earlier posts about my first time out with the '15 in Hershey, PA last October here.

Back in October, I was running on the factory P-Zeros with the factory EB PP wheels, which did pretty well. Actually pulled some pretty decent G's for a stock suspension setup.

This time around, I was on CJPP lowering springs and GT PP wheels with new Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 tires. I didn't expect these to be as good as the P-Zeros when it comes to dry traction due to the higher treadwear rating, but I was willing to sacrifice a little for the lower price. In comparison, you could tell the sidewall was a bit softer and the G's weren't as high. Different course and location, but similar temperatures and conditions. Next year, I plan on picking up a dedicated set of 18" wheels and tires to run for autocross and road course events.

Roush Quad Tip Axle-Back Exhaust Sound Clips (EcoBoost)

Finally got an exhaust sound clip video together for those that are interested! Shoutout to larso2ka for helping out! Rev, takeoff and flyby with the block-off plates removed :)

For those that are wondering what it sounds like with the block-off plates installed... it's about 95% as quiet as a completely stock system.

Autocross - Shenandoah PCA 5/14/16

Did another autocross event down here in Verona. This time around it was with the PCA guys - nice crowd and some cool Porsches out there! This was a long and fast course... actually had to shift into third!

Not exactly sure how I ranked among everyone else - but I do know that I was faster than the '16 Camaro SS there :headbang:

Hit & Run

There are a few out there who have been asking why I haven't updated the thread, so I wanted to take the time to post up what I've been to lately.

As for the car, not much has changed. Someone hit my car in a parking lot while I was at work here in Charlottesville, but thankfully there was a witness who stopped me while I was trying to pop my bumper back into place.

28945683780_896f2c5ce4_b.jpg

The witness did say the other guy did check out the damage and neglected to leave a note, but after speaking with the officer, I decided it wasn't worth pressing charges for a hit & run. So, we exchanged insurance information and the car has since been fixed. I'm currently in the process of requesting diminished value, so wish me luck on that one...

Shenandoah Mustangs

Since moving down to Charlottesville, VA, I started a Mustang club down here called Shenandoah Mustangs. We have roughly 80 people in the Facebook group and regularly have about 10 people come out to our events. It's small, but kind of cool to see complete strangers with a common interest - Mustangs - come together like that. So far, we've had a few meets, attended local car shows and a cruise down the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Next month, we have an install day planned, drag night and another cruise. Should be fun! Here are a couple photos from the cruise and a few meets.

Woodward Dream Cruise

Along with a few other CJ Pony Parts co-workers, I made the 1,300 mile round trip from Charlottesville all the way up to Detroit for a mad 72 hour dash to the Woodward Dream Cruise. Some would say I'm crazy, but it was an absolute blast. Somewhat similar to Ocean City, MD and their Spring Cruisin', but it brings about 1.2 million people to the area...

We also hit up Mustang Alley and saw some super cool cars from a lot of the vendors including Ford Performance. And made it out to Ford World Headquarters for Mustang Memories hosted by MOCSEM which was also a lot of fun. About 900 Mustangs along with some really cool builds.

Steeda Splitter & Front Sway Bar

Steeda Splitter

Got the Steeda Splitter installed. Shoutout to smoked_magnetic_gt for hooking me up with a GT PP Chin Spoiler to properly fit the Steeda Splitter to my car :headbang:

I think it came out pretty well!

Steeda Front Sway Bar

I ended up getting a good deal on a front sway bar for the Mustang. After installation, my immediate thoughts on the drive home on a few backroads -- initial slop on turn-in is almost completely eliminated! I felt much more confident with my connection between the steering wheel and the road. It really felt good.

To be honest though, I was a little nervous about upgrading the front sway bar without touching the rear with the fear of creating more understeer issues on a car that already likes to understeer....

After the most recent autocross session, the car is definitely a bit off balance, so I will be picking up a matching rear very soon!

Had a blast on the autocross course today! Felt real well carving the corners - will need to pick up a matching rear sway bar to go with the new front from Steeda!

Final [Unfortunate] Update

Back in February, the EcoBoost was involved in a four-car accident on the way home from work one day. A lady swerved in my lane, in which I had no time to stop and after hitting her, I was rear ended. Thankfully, everyone was okay, no air bags deployed, and the accident wasn't my fault. However, the EcoBoost was no more.

With that said, in late March, I made the move to a GT and couldn't be happier. Oddly enough, it's the same color as the last one which wasn't part of the plan (I actually wanted White). But, the deal was simply too good to pass up.

If you'd like to follow along with the GT build, you can check out the build thread here.
