The cloth will probably absorb the dye and stain the cloth. Kind of like when you get cooking oil on your clothes. They become a different shade where the oil absorbs. I could be wrong.
Silly me. Skipped over the cloth trim text.
Cloth trim will absorb the dye.

Hi @stresstest
Any thought on why this should not be done?
Still awaiting car, and was thinking of doing this.

Regards
Paul

My comment was directed to those that have cloth seats. As Eddie mentioned above, it will bleed into the cloth and then what? All it needs to do is happen once and I'd be super upset about it. How many stitches you figure are in the car? Odds are very bad.

Leather seats, knock your self out everyday but not with cloth seats

I did this on cloth seats. I was impatient and messed up everywhere but in the end I think it looks good. Unless you look too closely and picky, you can't notice those marks on the seats.

Any bleeding effect until now? Which markers other than prismacolor would you guys suggest, they are hard to get here in Germany

I used a normal marker. There will be slight bleeding effect, but since I have black seats it's hardly noticeable unless you look very closely.

I would go to a fabric, or hobby store that sell art supplies, and just buy a few types of fabric markers and test them out.
