Sorry, didn't see this post until now. That is the stock cover that I added a digital volt gauge into.

Did my badges. Going to dip the rest of the chrome on the 50th package when I get around to it. I hate chrome but wanted a 50th...

I've Plastidipped several things and have a good feel for it.
One warning: I did my fog lights in the Plastidip smoke and it is a very durable finish. In fact you CAN'T peel it off!! When I tried to remove it I ended up using a chemical that made me pucker a bit, hoping not to ruin the plastic lenses. Never again for that stuff on plastic. If you do your lights, be careful. I will stick with vinyl overlays on my plastic.

It's very hard to rub off if you don't spray enough layers. How many coats did you do?

I did 3 or 4 coats. I think the plastic just adhered to the coating, I've never seen anything like it before. I mean, I tried to peel it, then to scrape it with a piece of plastic. I couldn't hardly scratch the stuff. I then resorted to "goof-off" spray. Didn't do a thing. Finally laquer thinner! I've done emblems and wheels before and it peeled right off. It may be the "smoke" product. My first experience with it. Normal colors have always been predictable and easy to remove.

Felt like I dodged a bullet and wanted to give a heads-up to others.

Only thing I've done was the mirrors just to see how I like it. Eventually I'll just replace them with white covers as the plastidip really holds on to bug guts and stuff.

It has to be sprayed on thick or it's a pain to remove. That's why it's so important to do a big enough area outside of the piece you're spraying as well to aid in removing the access. I've never been a fan of dipping for lens tint I just use Vinyl for that. The heat from the lights especially the fogs and headlights will just bake it on.
