Has anyone painted their engine covers? Any photos and video tips on how to paint these bad boys? Thanks so much!

There are a few pictures of painted Ecoboost covers in JLT's thread. Good for inspiration, maybe? I haven't seen any threads about doing it yourself, but I haven't checked the DIY section lately. I imagine it's not that much different than painting any other engine cover, though...

Here is the JLT thread:

It would be nice to get some more pics of Ecoboost covers... I want to paint mine (or have it painted) but I'd sure like to see more pictures to get some inspiration!

You could always get it hydrodipped

I have a cover done by JLT.
They use their own new covers and paint them.
They won't paint customer covers, they say that a used cover is contaminated with oils and such and won't take the paint without extreme prep, and it is not worth it for them.
I got this one for $160 on eBay and added the 2.3 emblem

This looks great, wish my magnetic would pop like that the way the brighter colors too but if/when I do paint it I'll just use it as an opportunity to use an accent color lol

It's almost the same thing.
The advantage of FullDip is a slightly less granular aspect
This gives a smoother effect than plastidip

Painted mine as well. Gloss black section did not end up as nice as I'd like, but it'll do for now. Did the outside sections in Magnetic to match the car. It's not flashy but I wanted something that may look like it came stock that way. My Steeda strut brace does a good job of hiding all the imperfections, lol.

Painted mine with VHT high heat to match my calipers. Also did the shock tower brace. Intake came that way.

what did you do with those with those white accents?
Taped everything off and sprayed them at the end, after the base coat had cured. Picked up some trim tape that was the exact size for filling in the gaps.
