Hi guys

I am looking for opinions on paint for the Calipers and engine bay.

I see the popular choice is G2, is that the general consensus for both brakes and engine?

Thank you for your time

I used VHT hi-temp on both, with great success.

I know nothing about painting these but I like the look.

Can anyone explain the process?

Materials, etc.

G2 caliper paint and Krylon fusion spray paint on the coil covers.

Clean really well with brake cleaner (for the calipers) and dawn dish soap for engine covers. Mask areas and paint or spray multiple thin coats (about 3-5), waiting 30-60 minutes between coats.

I used Dupli-Color Ford blue today. It's meant for engine painting.

That looks great. Where did you get the mustang decals? Was looking for something to break up a satin black paint, but it's not a Brembo caliper

G2 Gold. Brembo high temp stickers courtesy of ebay.

For the brakes we did one coat via a brush. The rest of the coats applied using a preval sprayer.

Did you spray clear over the brembo decal? If so, which brand of clear?

@T-S550-X I forgot to ask you about the spraying you did using the preval sprayer. How was the spray in terms of dispersion...was there a lot of mist floating around or did most go right where you aimed? How much additional masking did you do because of spraying?
I was thinking I would have to wrap most of the car in plastic if spraying, hence why I'm asking. If the spray is very directional and not misting/flying all over than it stands to reason that less covering would be needed.

@5.0_SD, We masked what we didn't want paint on within the fender well. I didn't mask the body. The gold paint had a quite a bit of flake so the paint pretty much went where it was painted. Sprayed roughly no more than 6"-8" from the object.

I can't speak for non-flake paint. It may spray farther than the gold I used. If in doubt then just get some trash bags and cover the body if your worried. You can always spray something else to test how it will come out. The preval sprayer is the preferred method according to G2.

Good info thanks. You are the first I've seen mention that the preval is preferred by G2.
