Camera detectors? Is that a new thing? how are camera detectors different than radar detectors?

Depends, I used to use a Radar detector and Laser warner, sadly the time it takes for a Laser speed gun to get you its almost impossible to defeat (I got done many years ago, the warner just told me I had been done:frusty:. You could go down the jammer route, although I would not do that as its illegal.
I must admit I use Satnav with updated speed camera locations (either TomTom or http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ poi updates). I built up areas Radar detectors are pretty useless due to false alarms, except when it comes to fixed speed cameras when they go nuts, when they are active!!:eyebulge:

I was thinking about getting one for when I'm out for a spin in an unknown area, don't need one for built up area's or roads where I know where the cameras are and where the vans plot up.
I just love the noise when giving it the beans and it is so easy to get into trouble in this car.

My sat nav on Sync3 brings them all up as hazard signs and pings them, just select hazard warnings in the menu. It only works on the fixed ones though.

Yep, does that on sync 2 too. There aren't all on there though and the new side mounted motorway cameras are getting everywhere and replacing the overhead ones.

Could always comply with the speed limit I suppose :lie:

"or just don't speed" lol ;)

Sync 2 and 3 both have SOME speed camera's mentioned, not all... as for the rest, you can't ever avoid everything.

As a BMW driver I find driving hard up behind the car in front prevents the camera vans seeing your plate... ;)

^ Lol!

There's certain size plates that ANPR can't read (Illegal sizes, usually stickers) and also certain tints you can put on places that make them unreadable, expect a VERY hefty fine if a copper pulls up behind you and notices it.

download for FREE Tom Tom Speed Cameras, works brilliant also gives you voice warnings, and is up to date, as you can add cameras yourself

I use my Nexus 5X phone running Google Maps for navigation and Tom Tom Speed Cameras for fixed and mobile speed camera alerts and Nexus 5 running Waze with external Bluetooth speaker.

The Tom Tom Speed Cameras app runs on top of Google Maps.
