Running a few quotes tonight as away on a short skiing holiday before picking up the car on Christmas Eve. Anyway, had a bunch in the £350 range, Aviva wanted £500. And then.... DirectLine, £225.... Boom! Decision made.

Fair chuffed with just over 200 notes! Full no claims, no mods, me and her.

Direct Line was ridiculously cheap for my first year of Mustang ownership but the smug smile was wiped off my face on renewal.

In the first year I could have insured no frills with Direct Line for £157.68 but after keeping my policy for my Focus daily driver and adding some options and my wife as named driver the premium paid was a not too bad £340.55.

The renewal including my son was £1052.70 and I eventually insured as only myself as driver for £511.50.

I'm still quids in though as when I placed my order in July 2014 I guessed insurance would easily be £2K.

Cheers, something to watch out for at renewal time. Interesting that DL have been way cheap for others too. When I first cast about for insurance quotes, back in May, the cheapest was £170 - which seemed unbelievably cheap!

Last year mine was £298 (no mods), renewal came in at something like £370 but talked them back down to £324 (inc mods) with Churchill

Just tried a direct line quote and got £473 with full no claims and no convictions etc. Seems very high compared to other insurers

Tried some comparison websites last night, £1700 was the cheapest.
After seeing a few of you recommending Direct Line, I tried them.
My insurance is now down to £400! Was about to renew my current insurance for just over £1300!

I'd probably celebrate that (if that was my quote), mind you; renewal in April and feel im going to be shafted.

I'm around £400 with all mods from Aviva. DL wouldn't touch me with spacers when others had got cover no problem. This kind of thing makes me nervous as it tends to prove the agents we speak to have no clue as regards what certain mods are.

Nice! I think Direct Line like us North East drivers!

Oh, and make sure to use Quidco, I got £75 cashback!

That's Churchill and Direct Line down for me then.

DL wouldn't do a remap at all and Churchill would only accept a remap of 10BHP increase (or 10%, he didn't seem sure).

Looks like I may be paying my increased renewal afterall. :frusty:

Should just say an economy MPG driven flash to make the car more environmentally friendly for the long runs . When he asks the MGP gains, say 10, or 10% I don't know
