Hello all,

I just brought my ecoboost in for oil change. In addition to my tires being worn out, I was recommended the following. I have no idea what they mean by #2 and #3. I would appreciate any help/advice.

1) Replace cabin air filter - I have already ordered the part and the torx screw. I will be doing this myself. They are charging $75.00

2) BG Brake system flush - What is this? They are saying it is a time/mileage requirement, and they need to flush and bleed brake system. $145
I will have my mechanic perform this.

3) Service and clean mass air flow with BG - Contaminated - $95.00
I have no idea what this one is as well. They are saying I have carbon in my mass air flow. (I thought these cars did not have MAF's?) What do I look for?

4) Replace air filter, $49.95
I will do this one myself as well. I imagine it is an easy task.

absolute upsell ripoff...

Brake flush is a joke.

Your car does have a MAF, but it doesn't need cleaned...

Is this at a dealership?

I think I would request that they pull the MAF and show you the carbon build-up on it. I would love to see what you would be presented with...

Filter ripoffs...

My Toyota dealer wants me to have them change the cabin air filter. They want $50 plus one hour labor charge (anything done is rounded up to the next hour). It took me about 2 minutes to pop the filter out of the glove box and replace with a discount air filter.
Now my Ford dealer wants to change my Mustang cabin filter...
How hard is it to replace and what is a good price for a replacement filter?

The Ecoboost doesn't have a MAF in North America. Instead it uses a MAP sensor.
Good catch! I completely missed it was an EB despite it being in the thread title...
