I saw my old s197 a few months ago, thing had a terrible drivers door ding.
Never had any door dings through 9 years of ownership.
I also had a 2007 that only had 45,000 miles, was in mint mint condition. I traded it in. About 2 weeks after that, I got an email from the service department, that the repair time on my vehicle would be about 2 months. I was confused and thought it was in reference to my new Mustang. Turns out it was my 2007 I traded in (wasn't updated in their system that they were now the owner, lol). Car had a cracked engine block. No idea how they managed that. If it was natural causes, I turned it in just in the knick of time.

I went from a 2011 Premium MCA V6 to a 2016 Base EB and don't miss ANY of the premium features the 2011 had that the 2016 is missing.

To me, the S550 is just that much better of a car o/a and having a boatload of standard features that was non-existent on any S197 probably helps.

Really thought I'd want to add lighted sill plates, ambient lighting, bright pedal trim, etc. to this base 2016 but NOPE ... don't miss any of that fluff.

I've had an 87 GT, a 95 GT, a 99 GT Vert, a 2007 GT Vert and now the 2017 GT Vert. I feel like they get better and better each generation, albeit there are always some (usually minor) things I preferred about the previous generation.

I pondered going to a later GT500 instead of my S550 but, having 'been there done that', decided to forge ahead. The first time around I learned that there's no practical need/use for that much power for road use.

No regrets.

Almost the exact opposite for me. Was ok with the 94-98, absolutely hated the look of the "New Edge" 'Stangs from 99-04, and then really liked the s197. The s550 had to grow on me, but I got there eventually.
Basically this. The only new edge exception was the 03-04 Cobras :D

I wish I kept my 2011 GT Premium and bought the 2015 GT Premium. My 2011 had a nice mixture of performance and aesthetic mods. It ran really well. It went 11.2 @ 120 with minimal mods and drag wheels. It was a blast on the road course as well. But the MT82 ruined the car for me. I wasn't willing to spend $7K for a Magnum XL trans swap. I bought a 2015 mainly for the interior, technology, and to ditch the MT82. Sadly the auto, although fun with the higher stall, isn't nearly as fun as a manual trans to me.

Looking back I think the 2011 looks a little dated already. Thanks to how aggressive and different the 2015 looks. But I liked that the 2010-12 looked a lot like a 1968 Mustang anyways. Even with dated looks, I love the front end and side view of the car. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Oh well.

seeing there are quite a few like me who never owned a mustang before the s550. the only other mustang i would like to have in addition to my 16 is a fox notch, or a terminator. the s197s did nothing for me, 5.0 or not

I kinda wish my cousins didn’t steer me away from getting my first Mustang back in 2012 when I had originally wanted a 2010 or 2011 Mustang V6. Instead my cousins persuaded me to get a Mazdaspeed 3 so I got that instead…fun car…definitely quick but after a year and a half I got really sick of the hatchback styling so I traded it in. Had I never got the ms3, I could’ve said I had an s197…hell I may have had a GT by now.

But looking at the s197s now compared to the s550, I have very different feelings between both when I see them roaming the streets:
When I see the s197 I definitely see much more muscular aesthetics. The boxy bulky look gives it a lot of street presence like a Challenger. But they’ve been around so long that I no longer ooh or ahh when I see one unless it’s a Shelby.
The S550 on the other hand, I love seeing them on the streets. They still look muscular but definitely more refined and sleek. It actually looks more like sports car than it does a muscle car but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I didn’t like the front end at first but I never realize how good they really look until there is one right behind me, they just look mean. Everytime I see an s550 on the street I cant help but stare. Definitely something eye catching about this gen.

I am really curious on what theyre planning for the new gen s650 Mustangs to look like. I know that’s a ways off but I am not really feeling the 2018’s and I was planning on moving up to a GT but since I don’t like the 2018 I may just wait for the new gen, and still hoping they have the V8 with a Stick.

I had a 90 GT convertible that I absolutely loved at the time. Then I got an 01 because I liked the styling of the New Edge much much more than the rounded version of the SN95. My parents had an 05 or 06 that I liked a lot in terms of its look. I didn't like the change of styling in the 2010+ S197 until they put the GT500 nose on it toward the end....although I think they look really dated now. I hated the rear ends of the revised 2010+ S197 and really disliked the candy cane stripes that came out at first. I went back to my old 90 that was in the garage for awhile and compared to the 01, 05 and the 12 I had driven, it felt like a go-kart. I sold it when I moved I'll never go back. Very much looking forward to getting an 18.

I really enjoyed my 11' Brembo car, but I like the 16 better. The only things I miss about the 2011 are the exhaust note (IMO, the S197 Coyotes just sound better) and the glass roof. That glass roof was just badass.

I don't miss my fox body because I still have it. I love that stupid piece of crap.
