I dont like fox bodies. Loved 94 to 04. Hated 05 to 14 and love 15 plus.

I've never been a Mustang guy, until the S550, My dream car prior was a MKIV Supra, but that scene is extremely expensive now. The S550 was the "i have to have it" car that finally sucked me in. I do like the looks of the later SN95s, and somewhat 11-12 S197s.

I'm pretty "meh" on the s197s, but I will always love the SN95s prior to the new edge. However, I will probably pick up a 4.6 s197 as my track car. I'd love an SN95 cobra as my track car, but the s197s are just so much more capable.

S550. I've only driven a V6 14' S197. the interior difference alone and body lines made my decision.

I liked the SN95 Cobra's, 2v was a turd lol. Never a fan of the S197, although the later ones 11-14 are a huge step up from the V1's. I really do think the S550 is the best Mustang Ford has put out. To me, it is like taking the best from the previous generations and putting them all into one car. Really does check off a lot of the boxes for me.

The body lines of the 05-09 just look good, solid feel with the drive line.
My '07 with the Diablo 93 tune and trans shift tune would slam the axle up at gear changes, fun times. Easily controlled hard launches.

I miss my old 2007 Grabber Orange s197.
The color and body style in my mind was perfect.
I sure would miss a Grabber Orange car. Perhaps the new Orange Fury (which seems to be quite similar) on the 2018 will get you the best of both worlds.

I was going through some of my old pictures and found this one from when I first picked her up...

I really miss that car.

I'll admit the look of our S550 had to grow on me. It looks good, and yeah there's the iconic mustang signs still prevalent in it. But despite that, when I looked at it I just couldn't think "Mustang!" when I saw it lol. I liked the body of my '06 GT better, but I think the way those fog lights were before they changed them helped on the front end, plus mine had the louver covers on the sides of the 1/4 panel windows. The ones I see without them just look naked and not as aggressive.

But do I regret getting rid of mine? Hell to the NO! Was a fun car, and I enjoyed it. But I always regretted going automatic in it. My '16 GT has more power and pull, the interior is WAY more nice even though the '06 was a premium and the '16 is base interior so that right there illustrates just how far ahead we've leapt (then again we're talking a 10 year difference in my case so that's to be expected). I LOVE driving this car. I'll never go back, and if Ford is talking about going Hybrid in a few years then I definitely picked the right time to get one new. I think appearance-wise if I slapped some louvers on my back window and over the 1/4 panel ones, I'll regain a little hint of that old muscle kind of feel that my '06 hinted at lol.

My '09 was great. I loved my '11 GT/CS but they both seem archaic compared to my S550. The interior is modern and more refined and the IRS is lightyears ahead of the old truck axle out back.
The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems.

Of course I won't get rid of my '15 GT, but just saying I miss the simplicity and clean body lines of the s197.
If given the chance I'd switch back.

On the other hand, the power of the '15 GT is nice.
I can't say that I miss either of my S197s at all. Power, handling, comforts, the S550 it's a completely different animal and in my opinion better in every way.

I miss my Boss 302 sometimes, but I think it is more on the experience of it, not necessarily the looks. I will agree with most here, that the interior is way better in the S550....but I prefer the Boss 302 seats. I really wish I could have both, and I think I will someday. I do like how modern and sculpted the S550 is. It's like the sheet metal is stretched tightly. S197 looks almost bloated to me by comparison, almost inflated.
