Is this piece needed to retain factory height or to install the MGW shifter knobs?

Just ordered mine online with GT grabber knob...hope its as good as everyone says it is!!

Well done is all I can say. I know where to get a shifter upgrade for my (hopefully) future mustang.

Okay I want a shifter and it is on the to do list but I have a serious question. My wife has to drive my car to work once in a while for one reason or another. Will she hate the shifter?

She will love it. I tried the other 'Brand' shifter and was turned off by the feel of it. Fast forward 6 months and I had the opportunity to try this one and ordered it the next day. Smooth and effortless.
