Im looking to change the color of my wheels(velgen) i want to do a really dark gloss gunmetal. Would my best option be to powdercoat or just have a bodyshop paint them?

paint will look a lot nicer
powder coat is tougher and harder to scratch/chip

I'd powdercoat them. Powdercoat is what most wheels are finished in. Cheaper ones are painted. A good powdercoat application will be as smooth and glossy as paint (if you want it glossy) and be more durable.

powdercoat. a good powdercoat job has just as much depth and clarity as paint and the colors are endless.

Unless things have changed since I dealt with powder coat, there are UV stable powders and non. Just something to consider if you just go to a local powder coating shop, make sure what you ask for is something that will hold up to sunshine. Not sure what kind of time in the sun would fade non-UV paint, probably a lot. Just thought I'd mention it in case.
