If a Stingray with the Z51 package is borderline identical to a GT350 (I think we'd seen it barely quicker on some tracks and barely slower on others), a Grand Sport will be handily quicker than that.

It is the same LT1 that is in non GS C7's. I highly doubt it will be faster than the Stingray as it weighs more. Not saying it's not a nice car, I just don't think it is any faster than the Stingray. Probably turns better lap times but that is due to stickier tires and better aerodynamics.

Yes the '17 GS is the same under the skin as the '15 3LT Stingray that was traded in on it. It does handle better due to the tire size but also the better stance it has. The GS is a bit wider than the base Stingray being that it's based on a Z07 and it really shows in it's handling. Put a GS next to a Stingray and it's a night and day difference. To me it's like putting a GT350 next to a GT. The GT350 looks meaner and more aesthetically pleasing as does the GS over a Stingray. If you can scoop up a GS over a Stingray you won't regret the decision. I didn't opt for the Z07 package as I don't need it and the heat issues wouldn't affect me as I don't track my cars.

I just saw a Grand Sport at a local dealer. VERY nice car, and some aggressive discounts on them.
Beautiful car. Alas, zero discounts in Canada :(

Just wanted to chime in. I'm renting a 2017 GS since my Mustang is in the shop for body work. It's an auto 8 speed with manual paddles. The first 2 days I was learning how to drive it and handle it. The third day I opened her up and holy shit nice. If I had the cash I would have both my Mustang GT and this sucker. Really surprised me.

Yes, but if 'either or', which one?

The problem with GS is it does not make more enough than normal C7. Would be nice if they throw the LS7 back in it making around 550hp it would fit perfectly in the middle.

I've always loved Mustangs so I would pick the GT350R even though I've never drove it, just comparing it to the get up and go of a Mustang GT. Vette's drive smooth, corner well of course but from reading in the suspension forums, that can be fixed easily with the Mustangs.

Now I am driving a Hyundai Accent for my final day rental and should get my stang back, can't wait.

That isnt bad at all. Agree this is what the Z06 should have been and they should have saved the blower for a Zr1 to compete with the hell cat, damn Cafe standards!

I think the 2 cars are unique enough to justify trying to get both
CAFE standards might get slashed much sooner than later now.

As for the GS yes those are nice I always love corvettes and honestly they do look better than the 350R but not by much I'd take either on any day of the week.

Got a 17 GS 1LT. $11455 off MSRP..... $59K.....discounts end 5/1. .335 MSSP on the back and this thing is a blast to drive. Z51 engine Z06 suspension. Wide body. Data recorder with nav. 7 speed. Dry sump with all the coolers. It sticks like glue. The thing was manufactured on 4/11/17. These things are nasty. Apple car play and all. Track mode with the magna ride is outstanding. It just puts down the power and sticks wherever you put her 0-60 3.6 seconds. Everything is tuned to perfection .Even the exhaust was made a little louder then the standard adjustable exhaust that the Z51 gets.........2016 Car & driver lighting lap Grand Sport 2:47.1 Shelby GT350R. 2:51.8 My old 14 GT500 3:00.6.

Corvette wins on the track. Wins overall. Watch and enjoy. Just start @ the track results around the 12.54 mark

Those Hugh discounts are GONE as of 5/2/17

Sell the GT500?
Yeah traded and got good money for her. The GT500 can be a handful with all that power. It's a great car don't get me wrong. I think when the new GT500 comes out the 13/14 might take a hit Money wise. But who knows. I was going to wait on getting a GS but the discounts are pretty good right now. I've owned a lot of vettes in the past. This is one of the best IMO for the street and track. Looked @ the Z06 since they addressed the heat soak but sick of the sideways "bite you in the ass" issues these cars have.
