Evaporator failed on our '15. Cold air coming out of the far right vent, warm air out of the far left. Replaced 2/3/17 with PN: FR3Z 19850 S.
Paperwork says leak was found using evap pressure test. UV light revealed nothing.

Yeah FordTechOne its all good man..
We all realize that forums tend to concentrate the incidence rate for issues.

Its great to have this and other Mustang forums to offer commiseration, advice and support when things go wrong on our beloved ponies..

Peace

I had the Evaporator core go out on my 16' GT as well. I got the car back today, it took them about two days to complete the job as well as a couple other small things. The part number they replaced is FR3Z-19850*X. My car has 31,000 miles on it so i was happy to be able to have it replaced under warranty but after reading this thread i am worried it could happen again not to long from now.

I hear an intermittent hissing when the A/C is on since I bought the '16 vert 2 months ago...almost like the car is *sighing*. No noticeable drop in a/c temp, in fact I keep the temp set higher than I had to in my wife's Lincoln to stay comfortable. But...does this noise indicate the beginnings of the problem? I don't know if the prior owner had this work done already or not.

The evaporator core in my 16 GT350 failed at 11 months from brand new (6000 miles). The evaporator replacement (Part S) failed just 3 months later. I'm going in for a third...is this a dubious record?

If you smell a slightly sweet odor then beware. That is the smell of refrigerant. Telltale sign of a leak.

2 s550 mustangs in my household, both had to have evap core replaced at 20k miles. 2 cars, a 15 and a 16 doing the same thing is too much of a coincidence. So, if it hasn't happened to you yet, it most likely will.

If they have to pull the entire dash and reinstall it I'm betting the squeaks and rattles will increase. I can also imagine some "extra" screws when the install is done.

The first evap core assembly replacement that failed was part "S".

The second replacement, installed earlier in July, was part "W".

Has anyone had a part W fail?

What's the latest part number?
