I chose the GTPP base model. I wanted cloth seats and a toy strictly for the performance and to mod to my tastes. My DD is a '16 Platinum edition F350 crew cab dually that has every option Ford offers.

I see some good point about the additional weight on the car.
Loving the comments and perspective. Keep 'em coming...

Honestly, the additional weight aspect is totally overblown for everyone except those with dedicated track/strip cars. You won’t feel the extra weight…and for the 99% it won’t be a detriment. These aren’t the days of stripper notchbacks running several tenths quicker in the ¼ mile. Having 435hp on tap makes the hp/weight ratio differences negligible.

I wanted the larger screen. So 400A was the minimum spec I was looking for. Ended up finding a used 401A with low miles for $14K less than a new one. Driving 200 miles to get it was a no brainer.

Weight talk is actually nonsense. Base PP is likely heavier than Premium with it's bigger brakes/rotors, strut tower brace and larger radiator containing more coolant.

Anyway - climate control (!) and didn't feel having screen / infotainment system that you could find about 10 years ago in a compact car segment (now all of them are way better than that).

After even more research, I've JUST realize that there are:

PP - Premium Package
PP - Performance Package

So, can someone confirm, on:
- Premium Package, you get Sync 3, Reverse Sensors and the likes
- Performance Package, those offer larger wheels and probably larger brakes and such

Right? Or am I totally off the mark...?

We have a 2015 base GT with performance pack and standard cloth seats. In 2015 the upgraded electronics weren't highly rated (Sync 3 came in 16 as I recall). All versions of the car included the back up camera and all versions could be ordered with the backup sensors for $295. I think they are an option at all trim levels through 17 including premiums.

We prefer the standard cloth seats over leather but do wish we had the dual zone climate control.

Drive modes were not relevant since I turn off Advance Trac for autocross anyway and "normal" is just fine on the street.

FYI the 2018 allows a "split the difference" 101A or 301A for about half the cost of Premium. Keep cloth seats but get the upgraded electronics and dual zone climate control.

Performance pack had staggered 19 inch wheels with summer tires, Brembo brakes, Torsen rear diff with 3.73 gears, larger radiator, upgraded shocks struts and swaybars and upgraded aero bits. Quite the bang for the buck in 16 for only a $2500 option.

Leather, cooled seats, drive modes, extra gauges, better radio, navigation, back up camera.
The base package has both drive modes and a backup camera.

Basically, the premium is the remainder...leather seats, big screen nav and better stereo.

I do agree that those look very nice, especially in the red color.

It does not have the drive modes. Base drive modes affect traction / stability control, Premium has 4 of them and they also affect (significantly) throttle mapping.
However - I drive in Track mode only 100% of the time, so I don't really make any use of them....
