If a few thousand bucks is the major concern, and not to be that guy dictating financials, but then why bother trading in a basically still new 17 auto for an 18 auto and taking such a big financial loss?

The 2017 is the same thing then, just a few less gears and a few less hp (which power can be easily cured for far less $). And the S650 is right around the corner.

You're the only person that can answer your question. Would it be worth it to you??

$5690 is a bit of a red herring. I'm definitely in the camp that the PP is a bit overpriced for 2018 (unless you think the spoiler is worth an extra $1000), but if you were not going to go for the Perf Pack anyway, don't get the Magnaride.

Plus, at this point, the car hasn't been released for testing yet. We have no idea of what the PP and Magneride are really like.

Could be crap, for all we know.

I really wanted the Magneride, but in order to get it, you have to buy the perf package first for $3995, then $1695 for Magneride. I will get an X plan discount, but not factoring that into this right now.
To me the extra money is only one of the negative, the other is the firmer ride and higher revving engine on the highway with the 3.73 ratio. Those would be pluses if I track but I don't, and the stock 2018 suspension is supposedly already at the level of the 2017 PP, which some have said is a little on the firm side for most daily driving.

Magneride and the Bigger Brembo is more costly to maintain in the long term.

MagneRide or any of its derivatives is maintenance free relatively speaking. There's nothing in a magnetic shock to really fail. No valves, no springs or anything like that. There are CTS-V's out there with MSRC that haven't replaced their shocks with over 100K miles. The only thing that would wear out is the seal and they've proven to be pretty durable.

Dude one of the reasons that GM cars are world class now is magneride. Even Ferrari is borrowing the technology. I think the exclusivity of their patent is over and that is how Ford can access it now. It is worth 5K with what you get with it. Magneride is the best of the best but like I said the only down side is does Ford know how to tune it properly. Maybe yes given the Ford that has it now(GT 350) dumbfounds people with how well it can handle.

Nah, Ford is probably incompetent and doesn't know how to tune Magneride. The GT350R was just the PCOTY & runner up for BDC...
