Hey all,

Today I signed all the papers in anticipation of HR 871 arriving any day now. I purchased a Ford extended warranty for 96 months and 75K miles. IIRC, it was about $2700. Unfortunately, in the the state of FL, you have to buy the warranty from the dealer...... No Flood Ford here.

Now the point of all this....

I was offered the road hazard wheel and tire package for $646 for 5 years. When I bought the triple yellow R, I thought I recalled about $200 for the same coverage (which I declined).

Was the $646 too much money? I was going to get it, but that seemed like too much.

Anybody in the know care to chime in?

If it actually covers the carbon fiber wheels I'd say yes. I know there was skepticism whether it was just for the standard GT350 wheels early on. 646$ IMO would be too much for the standard wheels.

FYI...you can use Flood Ford to purchase your warranty, you just have to use a relatives address that isn't in FL. Ford doesn't care where the warranty is purchased, it's registered to the vehicle not the address.

That's a great price Tom...I paid $1800 for 5yr TireCare. Claim for the CF wheel replacement was $3200 so it has more than paid for itself.
Thanks!

After driving my R in the snow, backwards down a mountain road in the opposite lane last winter and damaging two of my R wheels (made a thread) - I would have loved to have that coverage for 2k.

Haha.

I still don't know where to get them fixed. Gonna work on it this winter. Just need a bit of filler and paint.

Read the fine print. Wheel warranties don't cover curbing the wheel. The wheel has to be so badly damaged that it will no longer hold air before the warranty kicks in. That isn't going to happen in any reasonable scenario.

Not correct. Most of them have an option to cover cosmetic damage.

There was a guy who had a rock get wedged between the caliper and wheel and the ceramic coating was trashed. His wheel got replaced. So I will have to review the fine print.

I just paid $12xx for 48 month coverage. That’s a great price.

It does say that cosmetic damage is not covered. So curb a wheel, I am not sure that it would be replaced. swedensky , what is your take on this? I would sincerely appreciate your input on the issue. Thanks!

Edited to add: at what point does it go from a cosmetic issue to a structural issue with carbon fiber? I'd imagine that any gouge or defect would affect structural integrity....
