My car uses next to 0. At 6k miles my line was down about 1/16th of an in from top line. I see all the people using a quart per 1000 but how many here don't use oil?

It fills up the catch can every few thousand miles, that's about it. I drive my car hard on track and autocross.

Babying these cars like their made out of glass during break in is the biggest pitfall.

Only got 1K miles of mine but I have not noticed any oil burn. Going to VIR soon, will let you know if we notice any change.

I have not noted any oil consumption on mine either.. but I did change my oil around 3000 miles so far, so I never really got to see what happens in 6000

I think the consumption (or perceived consumption) also has a lot to do with whether or not the owner/mechanic is following manual guidelines.

My car does consume oil, but the readings can look much further off if it's not brought up to operating temperature and actually driven then allowed the 15min interval prior to checking.

I checked first time after 15min and added oil, started car let it idle for a minute then cut it off and again waited 15min. At that point, according to the dipstick, I was still low. I knew this wasn't right - or if it was then the initial reading prior to adding was off. So I went for a drive (about 15min) then came back and waited again 15min and checked - levels where they should be.

I wonder if some owners are overfilling. It would've been easy enough for me to assume I was 2 quarts low instead of 1 - had I not taken a drive and waited another cool down cycle before confirming.

Mine doesn't use oil. I broke it in hard. Still drive it like I stole it. 11,000 miles or so. I do get oil in the FPP catch can but not enough to lower the oil level between oil changes.

Totally agree. I don't use the manual for proper break in. I also don't out a big load on a motor during break-ins.

My engine oil level drops 1/2 way between the holes on the dipstick at about 4000 miles. I consider that normal for any engine.

Just passed 1000 miles this morning going to a cars and coffee. No difference in the level since the first day. Pretty confident it'll be that way for the duration, broke it in using my secret recipe and haven't had an oil user in 44 years with my break in method.

Fine here, no oil usage. I read a post where someone's car began using oil after 10k. At first figured if it doesn't use it in the beginning then in the clear but that post makes me wonder. 6800 miles, 4 track days and probably close to 50 autocross runs so far.

1300 miles including 1 track day since last oil change and still at top mark. Checked it throughout the day at the track after all the extreme oil usage reports, but no change. Hoping that trend continues.
