We all appreciate there are good and bad point about every car but have you found something on the mustang that is just plain rubbish and crucially, cannot be fixed with after market parts?

I will go first and call out the bodged up wiring harness to the boot lid. What on earth were they thinking?

Not sure I want you to elaborate on this as i've not noticed anything...yet...

Headlights for me. Not bright enough and no simple solution.

Driveline clunk.
Shaker stereo is worse than the base, non-Bose stereo in my Chevy truck.
I am not getting laid any more despite having a cool car... should have gotten a Porsche.

OK but only one thing?

- Driveline clunk/thud but somehow mine is now fixed.....
- The nasty cheap plastic trim around the window controls, so nasty!
- The handling could be, should be better out the box considering this is "Performance Package"
- An AMG Merc sounds way better out the box, this should not be the case, its muscle car, SOUND LIKE IT!

The thing is there is issues but they are not deal breakers, but yes anyone saying they dislike nothing are either blinkered or were previously driving an S197. :D

open up the boot.. Do you have a black braided wiring harness from the body to the boot? it just flops around inside the car when the boot is closed. Most cars have this encased in rubber and when the boot is closed the wiring harness folds flat into the drainage gutters round the boot along with the hinges. What we have looks like an 80's TVR.

Haha....yes, the S197 did require more than a few excuses :D

Mind you, you should try an SN95.....makes an S197 feel like an S550 in comparison :eyebulge:

To everyone who has posted so far on this thread. I have a solution to every issue. Go get in it, dip clutch, press start button and take it out on the open road. All worries and problems soon forgotten.

1) Lack of a locking filler cap - A simple actuator to push a pin sideways when the car is locked (Mini has done a simple yet effective job)
2) Cup holders in the way and you end up with 2 rings on your arm from leaning on them.
3) Not able to change the Ford blue lights around the dash/centre to the same you have set in mycolour.

Those are things that are not easily changed with modifications.

I can't agree more with #1 and #3. WTF? I can't change the light behind the headlight switchy thing but everything else will change? So basically, being OCD-ish, the only option I have is the Ice Blue, which matches.

Just get rid of the dumb MyColor thing anyway (and the high school kid-boner-inducing pony-shaped puddle lights) and revert that money into a better chassis (like rear lower control arms that aren't made of powdered recycled generic pop cans so that a true coilover back there is a viable option) or less driveline clunk or maybe a Tremec instead of the MT82. Or body panel fitment. Or... you know... a lower price.

I do see what you mean. The braided bit seems tidy enough, if a little low rent. The bit inside the boot is a lot less tidy with the fabric tape rather than the braided stuff. Mine doesn't appear to flop around however as its got a clip just inside the boot. If anything its a little tight when the lid is open.
