Hello guys,

So I am gearing up to do a full engine swap with the coyote into my V6...

(before anyone says that is a terrible idea and just buy a GT, I am not looking for that debate and will be continuing with the swap)

The base engine will be a F150 motor from 2011-2014, so a gen 1 coyote. I plan on upgrading the intake manifold, throttle body, intake cams to GT spec cams (at least but most likely exhaust cams as well), and any wiring/sensor modifications needed to work with a 2015 PCM.

Since I will have a coyote out of the vehicle for a period of time, I would like to take the opportunity to do some future proofing upgrades that would otherwise be difficult to do once installed in the vehicle. My question is what exactly should I do? From what I am seeing, the oil pump seems to come up a lot as a part to upgrade. If this is the case, what should I upgrade to? A GT350 oil pump (if it fits)? What other mods would be a good idea to do before installing the engine? For a bit of context, I plan on this engine being NA for a long time and want to get the most out of it as I can without boost. I will be installing LTs and a full 3" exhaust system.

it has an engine!
The oil pump gear and crank gear. Also if you plan to rev over 7200, get an ati damper its still a good idea to combat harmonics despite the upgraded gears. OE damper is not suited for higher. Its only a bandaid to just do gears, not a cure. If you shop around you can buy all 3 for around 900 shipped.

Also id snag bmr or steeda engine mounts. They are adjustable. If you plan on a CJ or boss manifold later you'll not have to notch your hood.

TSS billet oil pump gears, skip the GT350 pump as it is not an upgrade. Plus what mustang_guy said.

If you are replacing cams then also upgrade the valvesprings since the '11-14 does not have the upgraded Boss springs like the '15+.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely look into the gears! I want to try and hit the 7200-7500 redline of the new 18 to take advantage of either the 350 intake or CJ intake I plan on using. I also plan on swapping in a 18 lcd cluster at some point so it would be nice to line up with that redline. I saw Ford racing has a timing chain kit that includes a few boss 302 parts and also includes a crank sprocket but that looks to be just an OEM replacement and not an upgrade...

I would definitely use the 302 chain, tensioner and guides. It's something the 2015+ didn't get carried over from the road runner. They cheaped out. But I'd get the one of the aftermarket cg and opg over the boss. Those still are powered forged from my understanding. I agree with grimace on the valves and springs too.

If I am correct on this, trying to use 11-14 cams and phasers will not work with a 15-up computer. I see you say you are changing the cams to GT cams. Make sure all the cam stuff is 15-Up Parts and not from anything older.

Interested tip! Thanks. Did not even think that they changed the cam phasers between years. Am I correct in assuming that 2015 cams will fit in 2014 or lower heads?

Ok so I found a technical document from Ford performance that details the differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2. The Gen 2 basically gets alot of boss 302 components. The cams are not all that different but Gen 2 phasers have a new lockout feature and bolt that must be used with Gen 2 cams. Gen 2 valves are larger but I'm not to concerned with that. OEM springs are about $3 a piece so I will definitely be upgrading to those. I might just to a stock 15 intake until pricing for the 350 intake comes down.

Yes I do believe they fit, Just the way they are read by the computer meaning the location they are set at is different.

I'd do stage 3 comp cams, LT headers, oil pump & crankshaft gears, GT350 manifold depending on the budget.
